It says that 160,000 tourists have a big impact. But can they prove those tourists only came for the carnival and if there was no carnival they would not come?

It sounds to me that they are bolting onto the carnival numbers that may or may not be specific to the carnival. From ChatGPT

The claimed figures seem unlikely anyway. It's estimated 1,000,000 visited on both Sunday and Monday (most of them the same people on each day) even if every man woman and child had spent £100 per day that would only be about half the total income quoted.
