I've never understood why music has been singled out for special treatment by the authorities, whilst other art forms are ignored.

There are literally thousands of books about violence, cop killers, serial killer, gangsters, Nazis, neo Nazis etc.

NWA got into trouble with lyrics about killing cops so why wasn't Agatha Christie or Michael Connolly hauled up...

There is plenty of music and lyrics I don't like but the same goes for other art forms.

Could be because the perceived audience is generally younger people as it is with violent video games. There is often a scare/concern about the possible influence on the young of some form of media be it comics, television or video films.
 
so what about Kings & soldiers marching around with swords at the Cenotaph ? or hoody teenagers with machetes at Thornton heath ?

Keirs Britain & the EU are reminding me of the Medieval World. Your permission to walk around 'tooled up' was dependent upon your rank in society. You get frisked walking into Selhurst, take your seat, and see a bloke with poppies marching around with a sword. The defence is always "ah, its only ceremonial"......so can a bloke walking around Croydon with a Stanley knife tell the coppers its 'only ceremonial' ?

'extreme music with incitement to violence' = jail.

How about all the ancient Holy Books, of various religions ? awash with violent incitements ? will you be jailed for owning one of those ?

The first one is a disgrace. I would love to go to a us gun range for the experience, as much as I'd like to attend a gridiron game. The second not so, it was extreme right wing music, it's going to be horrible stuff bought by horrible people.

That said, gangsta rap and drill continues on

N.I is awash with nasty horrible music , on both sides of the Sectarian divide. When you ban an album, its popularity will usually soar. Even Spotify has a thread for UVF tunes.


Censorship is wrong, it fails to achieve much, and it becomes impossible to say where the boundaries are. The hypocrisy of politicians. Them decrying any incitements to violence. Meanwhile they sign cheques for massive military engagements abroad. Usually for Wars we never voted for. And in the case of many of those during your own lifetime, you never even heard of those Wars.

a) the irish electorate have always been virulently neutral. It follows the 1920 Black & Tans driving into towns like Cork or Balbriggan and burning it to the ground, raping the women and driving back to barracks while shooting farmers working in their field. The atrocity was almost forgiven and forgotten... then yis did another Bloody Sunday, again in 1972.

b) 'defence spending'...........when was that ever actually used to defend the nation ? not the US, nor the UK nor whoever. Last time the Brits needed it was 1066. You even opened the doors wide for the invading army of William of Orange. Hitler had no ships and he openly admired the Brits , probably the only reason he let yis off at Dunkirk.

If any of the ROI navy warships were to sail the Red Sea, which would like require refueling they are that small, they would be defenceless against any anti ship missile system. They are effectively trawlers with a couple of cannons on board.

Trump can just put pressure on all those US companies that have their European headquarters in Ireland to basically move to the mainland.

Indeed, it's a worry. We're ridiculously exposed to the tax take from them. Whilst hammering our agricultural sector constantly. Pharmaceutical manufacturing is US too. I think it could genuinely be maybe half of our entire tax take. Which is a ludicrous position to be in.
