Wilf,in his prime,presently!!

He'd be awesome in Sarr's role, though it would mean he'd miss out on his favoured finish, opening up his body on the left of the box and slotting it in the far corner. We never really got to see him in a Palace side where he wasn't the main man that everything went though more or less but I think he'd enjoy playing for a manager with such ambition and attacking intent and would absolutely do his defensive duties - indeed, his strength and power he developed would be an asset in our press.

Let's not underrate Wilf now, he was a phenomenal player who in all honesty deserved a move to a CL side while his body wasn't completely f***ed by us rushing him back from injury. I hope he enjoys watching how Palace have kicked on since he left
 
Honestly, as much as he has done for us, I felt it came at a price... I felt the players knew he was 'passionate' and wanting the team to succeed...which to others comes across as whiney/petulant.

He's that one player that yaps all game, gets in a strop but every other game scores and helps you out... so you accept it.. just look at his social media posts regarding Mateta.

Agreed, we had his best years a long time ago now. He did used to niggle me though how he was so easy to wind up. Other teams got to know if they roughed him up a bit early on he wouldn’t want to know the rest of the game. He didn’t have it in him to pay them back the right way, by getting hold of the ball and scoring a bloody goal, he just went missing
Shame because everyone loved Wilf and he could’ve done so much more for us

Sage didn’t like him at Lyon. In an interview he said Wilf had poor non verbals and was too negative. This was seen as a weakness in both the Home dressing room and also because the opposition saw it too and fed off it.

When we used to play Southampton, you could see that James Ward-Prowse was solely purposed to wind Wilf up. It worked a treat every time.

That's refreshing to hear, he's bang on and not talking through red and blue tinted glasses... that's wilf to a T.
He's a local lad, our local lad.. but he never matured passed being a local boy..
 
If Wilf was at a level of ability and mental maturity that make him an asset, then I'm sure the club would be keen to resign him on a free.
If that isn't being considered then its clear that at least one of the parties is not interested.
