Glasner and Mateta should go down as Palace legends , but they are a pair of slags. One tried to get the sack when we were at our lowest point. The other downed tools and tried to slip off in a transfer window, the wrong way, now begrudgingly playing for us.

They are both currently doing the business, but , for me , will
never be up there with the Coppells, Ajs , Brights , Thomas, Delaneys etc.

It’s like being happily married for 40 years , then in the last year of your life, whilst you are bed bound, your Mrs starts sh*gging your carer.

Obviously hope we win the conference league , but if they sacked Glasner, the week before the final (mourinho at spurs) and Larsen got the winner whilst JPM was watching from the bench.

That would be perfect.

Such a shame. But morals/doing things the right way are important.
They both lack in them departments.

Shame.

Can i add Jim Cannon ,Don Rogers, Peter Taylor and that ray of sunshine Big Mal

Thats professional sport for you .If you want loyalty support a team in tier 8

I get how you feel but it was just noise surrounding Glasner .I think he was just making a case for his own benefit on why results had fallen off and was rightly upset at the timing of the sales of two of our cup winners .
Could he have handled it better ,yes but I dont think there was ever a question of him not seeing out his contract .His career has been one of short 2 year stints I dont know why we thought it would be any different with us .
But its all hindsight now , thank him for the best two years ever and hope the next one is half as good .

Mateta is one year left on his contract and Palace probably wont be offering a wage or length of contract that represents what he thinks he is worth . His next one will be his last and probably only big one so for his own career has to get it right . He is under contract so Palace could have turned down any bids ,could have told him he will have to wait .
They didn't ,probably not wanting to lose another player for peanuts so tried to move him on . It didn't work out and Mateta has got his head down and reintegrated himself into the team .

We have a manager doing his best for the club trying to win another trophy and a striker maybe playing for the summer bidders ,but playing all the same ,whats not to like ?

I understand your feelings but for me I'll just remember the glory days with both these lads and leave it there.
They'll leave and we'll all still be here giving whoever manages and plays for us our support as always.
Onwards and upwards Casual, we'll be just fine without them.

Good post mate.
I get that they aren’t Palace fans, like us.
But , for me, they will both be staying til the end of the season now, but have done it the wrong way. Maybe badly advised , but they are both adult men.
Glasner was definitely trying to get out of his contract , whilst not compromising any compensation, the way he was acting.
Tainted their legacy’s for me.
I don’t need to support a tier 8 team to lower what I expect from people.
Guehi, Olise, Eze , left properly.
Them 2 , no good.

Yeah I get what you’re saying Syd. But why end it like that.
It’s killed it for me.

Maybe not completely on topic. But it does annoy me when Glasner has said, this has been Crystal palace's most successful time in their history.

Also people say he's our best manager ever.

Crystal palace finished 3rd in the then 1st division in 1991 and reached the cup final the year before. Both under Steve Coppell.

I would suggest that this is a greater achievement than the last two years. I guess glasner doesn't know much about our history.

Greatest ever manager, give over. Steve Coppell, all day long.

How old is this carer ?
Only for perspective although I’ve been married 36 years so hope I don’t croak in 4 years time. I’ll only be 63 😁

if you want loyalty, get a dog. But then again, even they are slags. As I discovered when we booked them into a local dog-Hotel for our foreign faraway holidays.

Watching videos of them snuggling up to the dog-Hotel owner is like watching an episode of 'Cheaters'. If you want loyalty, get a tapeworm.

and the staff at the Club you support : you are darned if they are shyte, and darned if they are brilliant.

Geoff Thomas was heavily rumoured to be joining Blackburn before the start of the 92-93 season. With many papers claiming he would be left out of the opening game against Blackburn, before on the morning of the match claiming that he would only play that day as a goodbye. Was there any truth in the rumours? None of us really knows because we do not have access to the whole story and neither do we now.

Those were just better times altogether. All of football was much more of a football experience those days. No where was posh and overpriced. There was less poncing about but there were just as many bad refereeing decisions. And, as usual, our transfer policy was found to be lacking. But it was more exciting and more heart breaking too. Maybe it's our age though?
I wouldn't mind knowing how teenagers - twenty something's feel at Palace games today. Like the HF for example. They probably think it is f***ing brilliant. Or at least I presume they do.

Anyone who saw him that day, didn't really see him play. He had his head in the clouds.

I don't know if it's true; but after that performance, Jack Walker said, - I'm not paying 3 million or whatever for that rubbish.

I found myself conflicted at the game today.
I was over the moon that we came back from 0-1 down to win it 2-1 however as much as I celebrated the goals for Palace and the final whistle, I couldn’t bring myself to join in with the boom or the Mateta songs. Similarly it is South Londons RednBlue army and no longer OG RednBlue army.

In the case of JP, for me all it would have taken to forgive him was a simple apology to the fans. Put your hands up, say sorry for being a prat and promise to do his best for the team and I would boom boom boom with the best of them.
