Where's the money gone?

If we need to sell one or two of our best players to square our accounts, why on earth were we fighting UEFA to keep our place in the Europa League. As we look today, our squad is way too thin to be in any european league on top of the domestic competitions.
Assuming Eze goes and maybe Guehi, all we need is a couple of injuries which is highly likely with the extra games from the conference and we will be in serious trouble.
The pressure on our superb management team was clearly evident on the touchline and in interviews last night.
We will need to bring in three more players minimum to help cope with the extra games which in the time frame left is what our manager was clearly asking us to avoid.

I can't see us getting Dibling as well others had put offers in for him and they had been rejected.

We would need to pay out something silly like 40m+

Eze money isn't that big 60m and 15-20% goes to QPR
Depends on how the deal is structured. From what I have read we are getting a good chunk up front from Eze deal. If we can stagger payments for Dibling then can pay more

I agree re the thinness of our squad but
Re the CAS case, I guess the thinking was being in the Europa League could have made us more money.

I also think that the Europa league, against better teams, could benefit us. We have a manager, players and a system designed for counter attacking against better teams not breaking down teams we expect to beat.

My (possibly ill-informed) take is that with a small glide we desperately need to develop, and past transfers which Parish says we have payments on this year (clauses on winning or qualification for Europa?) we have not made a surplus to spend from.

I also think (guess) that our billionaire shareholders can’t invest (by issuing more shares unless Parish matches it (which he can’t), relinquishes control (which he won’t) or without us borrowing from them (when we cannot pay back).

So it is a choice of either limited funds with leadership from a fan with the club’s long term best interest at heart (and has led us to our greatest level of success) or role the dice with a billionaire who will invest but may take us into an MCO (and all the potential issues and benefits that may bring) and whose priority is their investment, not the club. Would you swap places with Forest?

A very interesting graphic I saw earlier. We laugh at Chelsea but we can see there that it's working pretty well for them.

Hopefully with our academy now entering it's... Second? Third year? We can start producing a bit more talent to make at least some money from.

Its an interesting graphic for sure, I was reading an article couple days ago (on BBC sport, just checked its still up ) PSR or mismanagement Villa face harsh financial reality - subsection - How does PSR effect Villa ? its quite an interesting read & Micah Richards was saying that basically for clubs at the cusp of (or having breached) PSR, selling academy players was one way of balancing the books, the academy players becoming sacrificial lambs.

Clearly in the graphic it would seem to support that theory -
