Where do we go from here?

Not even a little bit but whatever the reasons are he's not playing well at the moment and at times has been something of a liability. It's not the end of the world - players lose form and he has.
Can we think of a player who is playing well? I can only think of Kamada who has been consistently good. Even players like Mitchell, normally mr consistent, has looked out of form.

Not saying Wharton has been good because he hasn’t. However, when the whole team is playing badly and regressing you have to look at the manager

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I feel like it’s a battle for survival at this point. Is 8 Premier League games too soon? The form I’m seeing doesn’t make me feel like things are going to suddenly improve, unless Henderson coming back would magically fix the entire defense.

If Dyche is the guy who can keep us up, then maybe it’s time. I wanna do well in Europe, but we HAVE to stay up. Hate it for Sage, and I think he is a good manager, but maybe his style just doesn’t work in the Premier League at a club with mid-level talent.

Even by Sage’s own measures it isn’t working. He says the best way to not concede is to have the ball and he wants us to be on the front foot with possession. Yet we have the fourth lowest possession percentage in the division.

He may be a good manager in France but he looks out of his depth managing against premier Legaue teams and managing premier league players

Dumb question, but what about Dougie as manager? Is his magic truly in identifying talent, and just that? He always seemed like a true “do more with less guy.”
Dougie is an excellent allrounder he has excelled as a player, manager and sporting director. And he knows which side of his bread is buttered

Probably not a popular choice but rest Adam Wharton. For all his vaunted ability he's weak in the tackle, can't score and doesn't create as much as he should. It could just be that he needs a reset but at the moment he's not worth his place.
Combination of Daichi and Timber might work. Worth a try. Not like we'll miss Wharton's goals for a game or 2. See if he can come off the bench and make a difference.

I'd walk over coal to bring Dougie back as a DoF. But to suggest bringing in a bloke who hasn't managed for 10 years, and has never managed in the Premier League before, to keep us up and perform in Europe, is quite frankly mental.

We are all clutching at straws not one of us can say do this do that and guarantee it will make things all good.
It's easy to shout sack him get rid of him from the stands .
Hands up if anyone is a top level coach on here or multi million or £billion owner who has worked at a premium lge club . No we are all amateurs we make calls like amateurs and will always will be amateurs until we actually worked in that environment.
Keep changing managers and owners sends clubs in one direction down quicker than anything
Yesterday after 45 minutes was you all thinking this is better . Then in the first 15 minutes we lost our way . And this is what most are regarding was the only thing that happened in the match . After that spell we regained control . Bigger picture we was the better team . Smaller picture we made mistakes leading up to the 2nd goal . Defence was in right position the midfield wasn't

Our squad is not good enough or deep enough to compete in the premier league and Europe. We are playing in a harder European competition this year, and the premier league is more competitive as the teams which have come up from the championship are not hopeless like previous years. We've sold our best players and not replaced them with similar talent. Not sure if changing the manager will help but it is perhaps worth a go. Only saving grace perhaps will be if Man city get relegated, and only 2 others go down.

If you ask me what our aims were based on how we have gone about our games at the start of the season and i would say we have prioritised Europe first and then the Premier League second. On the Wharton debate i would say under Glasner he was only be playing 1 full game a week and Hughes would come in for him for the European games. This season he is playing twice a week against stronger opposition hence his inconsistency. It also has not helped having Mateta, Sarr & Guessand out as has no real targets to run on to his through balls. Get a fullish squad fit and ready to go and rotate the forwards and Midfielders between the mid-week games and the league ones
Osario looked decent in his cameo role against Newcastle so there are glimpses of what is to come but so far this season as soon as we get someone back we lose someone to injury.
Before the Newcastle game i was supportive of the defence first approach ( which seems to be to drop everyone a bit deeper ) but now i am not so sure. If Sage wants to press high, Play high and play attacking footballl then so be it. The games we have won have been by this approach. The problem with the Newcastle approach meant we nullified most of our attacking threat.

Played 8, scored 9, conceded 19. Minus 10 goal difference after 8 games, the worst in the league! This is through playing Sage's tactics as you outline. It doesn't work, hence the stats and our overall position, currently 17th.
It's very clear what the problem is.
