What changed the game ?

The Benitez save and then obviously the 2 quick goals to give us a half time lead.
In the second half we played with more confidence and Wharton and Pino started to have more influence.
I didn't detect any real change in our tactical approach.
One point I did note was that Ahanor won a few good defensive headers after he came on which helped alleviate the pressure.

The equalizer - shifted the mindset of both sets of players.
Taking nothing away from Benitez, he was out of this world but for Forest to have so many clear cut chances and then being on level terms ha ha ha and then for Palace to take the lead a few minutes later ha ha ha ha ha

Defensively both sides were poor, we also though gifted them the ball far too often throughout the first half and until we scored the third goal. We tightened up a lot after than, and they lost heart.

The big difference is we took our chances and they didn’t. We had few, they had many. If you take the few and they miss the many that will be the result.

A better side would have scored a hatful against us today so let’s hope we get the defensive sorted.

I can never understand that comment , better side only means more capable of scoring not they would score . a more efficient side is the ones that take there chances more often , it all depends on the day . No two games are the same . The defence needs to be more aware around them and shout at each other about players free or the runners . You know standard defending

As others have said, luck changed the game more than anything else.

As incredible as Benetiz was, they should have scored two or three before we got one. Obviously, in most games there are chances and half chances at either end before a goal goes in, but this was different. These were unreal sitters that Forest missed, and they had about three of them. We were far luckier than most teams who survive the odd scare before scoring themselves. This was bordering on unbelievable.

We then got lucky that the first one fell to Kamada as it did, that the second one wasn't saved and that VAR, for once, didn't stick it's f***ing beak in. Then we got lucky that they hit the post from close range. Then our third was pretty lucky as well in the way the ball fell to Pino!

Of course, football includes luck most weeks. We could have scored from Larsen at 0-1, and the team made its own luck to a degree in the second half. Still, most neutral reports found it incredible that Forest went into the break behind rather than out of sight. They probably can't believe they lost.

I should think Fulham felt much the same. Looking back at Mitchell's goal in that game I can understand that. That's two wins, both very lucky.

I'll take whatever luck Palace can get, but it's still worth noting when you've got away with a performance that would see you lose most weeks. They say its better to be lucky than good, but that's bollocks. Luck runs out far sooner.

The beauty of all of this is that it is buying Sage some time he might not have otherwise. He has been given a very difficult (impossible?) task to replace Glasner, integrate a hugely changed (I still think weakened) squad, coach a team to cohesion in a preseason when half of them weren't even there, and do it all in a new league and a second language. If he is to succeed then he needs to have a bit of grace, wriggle room, and not be in the pressure-cooker all the time. Lucky wins or not, the points have got us to our spiritual home of 12th from which he is surely far more free to carry on working as he wants to.

It was a massive win, and we might come to see ourselves owing Lady Luck our gratitude for more than just the three points.

Certainly some luck there.

But because we are committing men forward, we'll get more balls falling to us in the box than we would have last season (where usually JPM was the only one close to goal).

With Kamada's we had a bunch on the edge of the box, and Timber involved earlier in the move and ultimately providing the assist. And Kamada ending up on the opposite back post. We never had our midfielders doing that last year.

I'm 100% sure we'll see more of those type of goals, and rebounds this year.

Poor finishing and Walter Benitez changed the game, it’s always the way, if you don’t take your chances it gives the other team a lift.

I remember going up to Brum away and they battered us first half, but didn’t take their chances and we ended up winning 0-6 😳
