West ham meltdown

So his gripe with the board is that they don't play like Liverpool or Real Madrid. Well I would imagine every football fan would like their club to be winning trophies, and smashing the opposition every week, but most of us will accept a team that tries and has reasonable success.

He and his supporters are part of the problem although they would not accept that. Delusional fans who think the West Ham way actually exists (it doesn't as Fergie once pointed out).

"big club mentality" with nothing to back it up.

I asked AI: What is "the West Ham way"?

"The West Ham Way" is a debated and undefined concept, but generally refers to a playing style and attitude emphasizing hard work, honesty, and aggression on the pitch, with players giving their all for the team. However, the meaning is subjective and contested; some fans and commentators, like Sir Alex Ferguson, question its existence or definition, while others, such as former player Mark Noble, associate it with core values and a specific brand of football, often perceived as working-class East London grit

In essence, while "The West Ham Way" lacks a universally agreed-upon definition, it symbolizes a perceived spirit of effort, resilience, and East London grit that the club's fans and some observers hope to see on the pitch

So I conclude that it's basically them "trying". Hardly a style, hardly even unique.

At Upton Park maybe

The West Ham way consisted of giving the ball to Trevor Brooking and letting him do what he wanted. Then Billy Bonds would cripple anyone who dared to try and stop him.
Unfair, from 1958 to '88 they played a passing game, first initiated by an influential and progressive senior pro by the name of Malcolm Allison, playing alongside John Bond, Noel Cantwell and Johnny Byrne which evolved into the Moore, Hurst, Peters team from the mid sixties to early 70s, then Brooking and Bonds, then Devonshire, Cottee and McAvennie. They didn't follow the thud and blunder of the 80s, lost their way with managers like Lou Macari until Harry Redknapp's spell in charge, and grit and aggression did not characterise a team with Joe Cole, Lampard jr, Michael Carrick and Paolo di Canio. However, their two most successful, managers of recent years have been the pragmatic Allardyce and Moyes, their record under the latter was decent, but the fans neither liked the latter's style nor a number of gutless heavy defeats. They need to find their Glasner - Pelegrini and Potter looked likely candidates, Bilic ran out of steam, could see Frank Lampard back there at some point, but by all accounts it seems the ownership is more the problem than the managers going through the revolving door.

Heavens to Betsy.
Those who truly know me would never claim that pretentiousness courses through my veins.

Returning to W.Ham, it was a truly abysmal performance in front of a plethora of empty white seats. All in the full glare of television coverage.
I was going to enquire as to AWB and how he played. He's on contract for another 6 years I think so probably difficult to save?

They were unbelievably bad, even on commentary they said it’s hard to believe the chasm between two sides in the same division, I rarely watch the whole game on a Monday night, but I stuck with it out of fascination how s*** West Ham were

Some people have a theory that a club will bid for a player wanted by their rivals just to jack up the price and make them waste money.

West Ham have a history of poaching our targets, but with one or two exceptions they all end up being expensive failures.

If we are setting up West ham to fail in the transfer market someone at the club deserves a big bonus.
