I said on this site at the time it was a risk. Johnson is a player that every club he's been at they were happy to sell him.

An absolute disaster of a signing, however, in his defence he's only been at two clubs and did very well at Forest, who sold him for a then record fee.

Your point in regards to Spurs is correct, but that's a single club so not sure that supports your point.
 
What is it with Brennan Johnson? The club seems desperate to get rid of him, even accepting a swap for a crap Everton player, bizarre. Does he fart continuously in the changing room while the manager is giving a team talk? Palace have had many other rubbish players who lasted longer, there must be some reason we haven't heard of.

I know your interest in football extends beyond Palace and your knowledge encompasses other clubs/players.
No sitting in the fence permitted, what is your view on McNeil's attributes and what he can bring Palace?

McNeil has a good left foot, his delivery can be dangerous to the opposition besides he can give the ball a darned thwack with his favoured foot. He takes free kicks over a wall, provides energy and is a strong runner with the ball.
He also has that ability to make incisive passes.
He could well be an asset to the team, unlike Johnson who was exceedingly disappointing.

Never going to turn their form around if confidence is low and then fans start getting on their backs. That just makes it worse.
I've shouted abuse at players performing badly in years gone by out of frustration. Anyone who says they have never done so is either a liar or rarely go to the games. Not proud of it though. Its negative energy and counter productive

You could say that about thousands of players. The ones clubs dont want to sell rarely want to stay long term. Thats why the Joel Wards of this world are so rare.

I don't care what Everton fans have to say, this is a punt worth taking. McNeil is on £25kpw at Everton vs Johnson on a whopping £110k according to sources (doesn't seem right). The £15m loss factors in this and the lower value of NcNeil with only a year left. It's a decent offload and with it we get a squad player and reduced a salary to make room for someone on big money who isn't useless.
