Welcome Dwight McNeil

His obvious strong point, which we all seem to be anticipating, is his crossing. I'm sure our strikers certainly hope he will provide service from wide areas. I'm not quite sure how he'll do that in a 343 formation as I can't see him playing wingback much, but I haven't yet seen Sage's iteration if the system and, in any event, imagine we will be more likely to change systems if required than under Glasner.

If we do play the same way under Sage as we did under Glasner, perhaps McNeill could play inside right, cutting inside to shoot and pass? He seems to have a bit of quality in those respects.

I have to be honest....I'm not saying anything about him as a footballer but if this is what his skin looks like at 26.....He's going to look rougher than sandpaper at 36.

Always liked him as a player. Has his downs, but on a good day (comes with confidence) he will be our POTM. Whatever price tag - Dwight in return for Johnson is brilliant business. Wish him and his lady all the best here and hopefully the fans will back him all the way...
is it brilliant business? We were negotiating £20m last season before it fell through, and we paid £35m for Johnson. That's a £15m cock-up in my books.

Cutting our losses. A lot better than having a £35m "asset" who is drawing massive wages but cant be trusted to play. Sage must have sanctioned this from seeing him in training for just 4/5 weeks. How crap must he be! Notice Glasner not in for him either to return to his old club Forest at bargain price. And McNeil is an upgrade to our match day squad. Making the best of it. Original purchase of Johnson clearly a howler. But not the only big money transfer he has attracted (Spurs first and now (amazingly) Everton).....and he was good at Forest and for most of one season at Spurs until change of manager saw him on the bench.

It was crap business spending £35 million on a lazy waste of space like Johnson, but the fact that we’re cutting our loses, getting shot and bringing someone else in can’t be described as good business, but it does seem sensible at least
McNeil doesn’t exactly excite us I know, but he’s not Johnson, so that’s a good start to his palace career and he’s worked under managers who as a minimum expect hard work as in Dyche and Moyes, so that shouldn’t be a problem with him

I’m pretty excited about this signing. Great left foot and will massively improve delivery/ service into the strikers.

I kind of like how Pino and Johnson offer different solutions In an attacking sense and we can be more variable in how we play.

Only time will tell if it was good business. The fact is Johnson didn't work for us or towards the end of his Spurs spell, none of us know why. Maybe he didn't settle in London, maybe attitude etc At the end of the day it doesn't matter it didn't work and I don't think he was part of the team ethos at Palace.
McNeil seems a very different personality, his first Palace interview was very engaging and he looks a much better fit.
We don't know money side of it and never will, however if rumours are true ie Everton take over payments to Spurs, it makes some sense. I also assume McNeil wages are a lot lower than Johnson.
My own gut feeling is McNeil will be a success

He'll need to be having been given the No 11 shirt.

Hopeful he can reach his best with us, if he can be a reliable hardworking diligent player that can be called upon we'll get along just fine.
I'll support any Palace player 100% but I agree his limit will be as a hardworking diligent player, who can come on and do a job when we're running the clock down or play in the early cup games.

He's at his peak now so unlikely to get much better, fits in well with our quantity over quality strategy this window...

Let's hope he is another Will Hughes. I don't mean in playing style, but as an underwhelming signing who actually turns out to be a valuable squad member.
Really hope so 🤞
