Wayne Hennessey

I know our ventures on Football Manager 15 aren't real life, but he's my head goalkeeping coach at Loxwood FC who I managed to get to the Premier League for the 2033/34 season.

Rob Holding is my head scout. He's actually quite good. Anthony Gardner is my assistant manager.
I have visited Loxwood FC and watched a game from the stand at the 'Theatre of trees'. Splendid setting.

Controversial but he played a lot of games for us and gave us a decent service. Sure, he's going nowhere near our all time top goalies list but we've had worse. I think.

Hennessey played in all 4 Divisions in England.
He played in over 300 games in his club career and gained over 100 caps for Wales.
Exactly. For me he doesn't really deserve any mocking (although he'd never see it here). He was the Jordan Ayew of goalkeepers. Yeah we were frustrated we hadn't recruited someone we perceived to be better, but he did what was asked of him within his skillset.

Hennessey was a Pulis signings for a fee of up to circa £3.5 Mill. Julian Speroni was at the club at that time. Another goalkeeper in our ranks was the then teenager Ross Fitzsimons whom Northampton have recently signed from Scunthorpe.

I’m not sure that’s right🤣 I think the managers he played under with us would’ve asked him to keep the ball out of the net a lot more than he did

If he was the Welsh number one with so many caps, the numbers two and three must’ve been pretty awful

I recall there was a period whereby he had a tendency to be beaten from free kicks over a wall.
Apropos Wales, I was led to believe that Hennessey was a boyhood Everton supporter and his hero was Neville Southall.

I refer you to my caveat "within his skillset"

Remember up at Anfield? I think the whole world and his dog could see where Alexander-Arnold was going to put that free kick, but not old sausage fingers 🤣
