Uniformed man injured. An irish army Chaplain has received multiple stab wounds from a 16 year old boy. Reports are online about Middle-East politics being a possible motive. Certainly some commentators have ruled out any Ulster Catholic-Protestant type terrorism.
Although there may be parallels with the Lee Rigby attack, there are also significant differences. The victim has survived and is well enough to text a few messages to well-wishers. Ostensibly the Irish State is militarily neutral and is even one of the few countries to have recognised Palestine.
Reporting seems to be heavily controlled and its difficult to get much confirmatory details. The July stabbing attack on a soldier in Kent also springs to mind.
