VAR - we wuz robbed after all

As well as the VAR penalty in the home game against Chelsea they also had a massive decision go their way in the away game with the Eze free kick! But I guess that doesn't count as it was adhering to a rule that only seems to have ever been enforced in the one game and against us!

So lets get a life.

Everybody makes mistakes . We are football fans and get emotional about it.

Why not try and be a little more balanced.
Refs get most decisions right.

Like or like it not( i dont like it, its really spoils spontaneity. I used to quickly look at lino for a flag in trepidation or hope depending on whose Var isnt going away. net the ball hit . Now Its a wait for a jobs worth to make a correction that might involve a tenth of an inch.)

A more interesting set of stats would be to count no of decisions from Var that backed refs decisions plus how many they correctly suggested were overturned.

Of course we could fire the var refs and let loose the overpaid often biased pundits instead . I suspect before the end of August we would be screaming to have refs back

Has VAR reduced the number of mistakes? I accept refs make mistakes. I didn't need VAR to chip in if it's not reducing mistakes. I'll take the odd officiating mistake from the on-pitch officials if it means fans can go back to celebrating goals.

Hendo's pick up of the ball against Bournemouth is among the errors.

I thought it was absurd and still do.

How the official and VAR decided that was a penalty well they all need specsavers appointments imho.

😎

For me it is the consistency of when the off field assistants recommend an on field review and when they do not.

Unless the criteria are made much more categorical (eg "did the ball cross the line?") then the technology seems to me to be doomed. Who decides if, for example, an error is "clear and obvious"? How can something so subjective ever be applied consistently? I would be in favour of having VAR for line calls only for this reason.

So the terrible wording of the laws added to human error is as much to blame for how unsatisfactory the technology is. As I have said before, I think this is deliberate. It is difficult not to at least suspect deep corruption within the game.
