US Trade Deal

The NHS is fetishist sacred cow. If some form of privatisation made it work better and deliver better outcomes I would be all for it.
The NHS already contracts a lot of work out to the private sector.

I've had an MRI which was supplied by some South African outfit, my knee was replaced in a private hospital paid for by the NHS, blood tests and bone marrow biopsies sent to external laboratories, offered physiotherapy done by a company paid for by my GP's surgery, and I recently had a call from a company, on behalf of the NHS, asking if they could send me all manner of kit so I can record everything regarding my illnesses and send them the results so they can in turn report them to the doctor. I told them to go swivel on that. I also know my GP's practice outsources all their podiatry work to a company in another town. I've been through A & E a fair few times recently, and a lot of the ambulance crews comng in there were sub-contractors using their own company's ambulances.

If privatisation can improve health care at the same cost to the country, or even cheaper than the NHS's own resources, then why not?

Labour's manifesto was a complete and utter pack of lies! Makes me start to wonder why they bother coming out with manifestos in the first place...
Manifestos set out what you would like to do, generally given best case scenarios. They rarely, if ever, actually get enacted and never in full. Governments have to govern and that means dealing with realities. Events throw even the most pragmatic plans off course and there’s been a few of them in the recent past.

There’s also the unfortunate reality that voters are, as a totality, not very sophisticated in their approach. They tend to vote against incumbents struggling with realities and believe those who only have to make promises. As we have seen here just recently and last year both here and in the USA.

Those who ignore realities and go steaming ahead with their promises without regard to the consequences tend to end up in big trouble. Look at Truss and now at Trump for the evidence.

Agreed. Many countries in Europe have a part private part nationalised healthcare system free at point of entry. I am currently waiting for an ultra scan the NHS wont even put me on a waiting list so it's sometime never.

Or in the case of the rabble currently infesting Parliament, do the complete opposite of what was in their manifesto.

Oh, and they are have already ended up in deep trouble, completely damaging the economy and the country!
