US Politics

Exactly digital id will be used to track the legal not the illegal and or criminals. I have no problem with id's as long as it is mandatory to carry one. If I am stopped by the police now I can prove my id very quickly so it doesn't help them. The people they have the problem with don't and won't carry id so you have to make it an offence not to carry id.

Instead it will be used to track us not the people they should be focusing on.
Remember, laws are there to control the law abiding, not to curtail the activities of the criminal fraternity…

Vance says UK and US ‘win every time we go to war together’

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yeah, I think what he said woke up whitehall quite a bit there.

The suggestion that we would do the fighting and they would provide the money.......Well, that idea has come back with a 'no' from the UK government.

Apparently, we have pulled out of being a 'coalition of the willing'.

Things get more expensive when you mess with the supply chain and make everything at home

Jeez dude, why didn't I think of that....

Did you read the bit about national security and economic protectionism?.....You know, all these factors need considering not just costs and profit margins.....Did you take in the reality of the US not competing without having high tech jobs being centred in America?

Also, you do realise, do you not, that America already has tech companies with high investment in America already? Maybe you have heard of Silicon Valley? There is significant tech manufacturing already being done in the US.

This is about not falling behind to China in important areas....currently the US aren't competing anywhere nearly hard enough despite having several advantages.

I was replying to your final paragraph

Your comment was out of context as that paragraph relates to the observations in the previous paragraphs.

We will see what the effects are.....both Apple and Nvidea already have significant profit margins already built in.
You've mentioned those companies before but they're US listed businesses, how does it work for non US based like Swiss watch makers and I'm looking at my Sunday paper to for some reference points

Not good.

The Jeremy Sachs interview that Wisbech posted contains some valid criticisms of Trump's views on tariffs in terms of the world economy.

However, how it works out for the US economy is yet to be known as the US actions on tariff will take some time to filter through. So personally I'll give that time.

My personal position is that I see the sense of economic protectionism in some sections (and countries do this all around the world). However, there are other methods other than tariffs to do that....Like I say Trump is bullying other nations here and is a result of that will certainly see a re-direction into different markets where that makes sense... What the overall effect is though I don't know, we will all see I guess.
