US Politics

Apocryphal even though Snopes have fact checked them.
Remember this next time you post whatever your wife claims about her hospital. Unless accompanied by notarised affidavits and photographic evidence they didn't happen.
Yes, they feel apocryphal but as I said, probably authentic because of the fact checking.

Why Trump might do something like that is a more interesting question. He was kind to a BBC reporter last week when she revealed her husband is serving in the Ukrainian army. So he shows occasional flashes of being a normal human. Just not on very often or on the big issues.

If my wife informs me of something she knows from personal experience then it is believed. If told to her by another then I remain sceptic. If confirmed by others she trusts, less so.

There you go. You believe your wife. I believe mine. Except when I hear that a new bag has been in the wardrobe "for ages".

Praise the US but no mention of our police opening a criminal investigation or correction of the fake news yesterday that they weren’t.
Oh dear, Trump has done something good! Why would I mention it, I would expect it. I mentioned the US because it was something that happened in the UK and could easily have been ignored ( imo some countries would not have taken similar type action ie putting them on a banned list). I saw nothing yesterday that the Police were not opening a criminal investigation, on,y that it was under consideration. Now if I missed something, on here or in the press that was different, apologies but would make no difference to my post whatsoever

Of course you will believe your wife, as I do mine, if what they tell us is anything from personal experience.

I would not take anything at face value that mine told me which was told to her by another, which could have arrived at the end of a very long chain. Ever played “fairy whispers”? People gossip.

If you believe everything that’s told by others then good luck. You’ve worked it out with the bags!

There was a link posted which claimed the Metropolitan Police had decided to take no action over the Glastonbury incidents and suggesting a different approach was taken with “left” wing protests compared to “right”.

The police force involved are Avon and Somerset. Who are investigating. Who, I feel certain, will do so based on the facts and not on any perceptions of political motivations.

Possibly some confusion with this story.

Not believing something after it's been fact checked by a reputable organisation is taking scepticism a bit far.

Interesting article about RFK.

We all know he's a conspiracy theory nutjob but not everything he's doing is bad.

To hist critics I would ask why didn't previous administrations ban these food additives the EU and the UK did a long time ago.

So he's a mixed bag, taking on Big Food Manufacturers whilst having some controversial ideas about other stuff.

A visual representation of why the US and the west in general is fecked....and that's from two years ago.

To quote Ray Dalio, one of the most successful traders in history.

"I promise to not raise your taxes" and "I promise to not cut your benefits" are the two popular political promises that are inconsistent with the much more needed promise "I promise to cut the budget deficit to about 3 percent of GDP" that is required to prevent a big debt/dollar crisis. There is no way that the deficit/debt bomb problem can be sustainably dealt with unless there is a mix of tax revenue increases and spending decreases that are determined in a bipartisan way. Our representatives in Washington, DC, both Republicans and Democrats, know this is true. They understand the need to reduce the deficit by having those from both sides chip in a bit (e.g., a 4 percent increase in tax revenue and a 4 percent spending cut) which would lead to a supply/demand balance improvement for US debt which in turn would lower interest rates. Lower interest rates would help reduce the budget deficit as well as help the markets and the economy. But because politics have become so absolutist, they feel they can't go down this obviously best path because both their constituents and their parties will throw them out of office if they explored this more balanced approach. To me, that’s a tragedy.

Yes, he has his wires slightly crossed. Apparently as the “offence” was November, it is now too late to prosecute. Begs the question why it has taken so long to look at it, it was out there for all to see. Obviously calling to kill a Tory does not warrant immediate action 🤔

Concentrating on food additives that have been in use for a very long time without any harmful effects being detected is completely the wrong approach. The EU and UK have an even tougher regulatory regime which removes approval if animal testing at 10 times the maximum equivalent dosage produces any possibility of a potential problem. Many regular foodstuffs would not pass such tests!

The real attention needs to be focussed on over consumption and poor diets. People are eating too much of the wrong things. If he tackled that head on then he would really be doing his country a service. Following another conspiracy theory does not. It just wastes time and money.

Paramount settle with Trump.

Interesting the BBC are quick to appoint out that there is no apology however they initially asked for the case to be dismissed as without merit. They can spin it however they like but Trump won this.

The downside of the empire is it has to be paid for.

Some win!

It was settled to get it out of the way so the merger can proceed. Not because they were found to have made a mistake or have admitted a mistake. It was a pragmatic decision to a malicious prosecution. Much as an insurer will settle a claim they know is fraudulent just because it’s cheaper to do so than fight.

The only spinning here is by Trump.
