US Politics

Even suspected gang members are entitled to habeas corpus which active judges (not activist) are ensuring happens. It exists to ensure that people are not detained illegally by the state. Which seems a very important safeguard to have right now.

That Trump won the election is not in dispute. The people though did not vote for him to ignore the law because no one can ignore the law.
With an estimated 11,000,000 illegal immigrants in the US and thousands a day being added what should they do?

The world's narrowest city, Yuanjing, is 300 metres wide.

Incredible, you wouldn't think space was a problem there really.

China mines 90% of the rare earths and minerals needed by high tech and US military, and is pausing exports of these to the US.

😎
They also hold a hefty chunk of US bonds, notes and bills.

Dumping them would cost China so they are unlikely to do so but selling enough to cause the cost of new debt to rise and create a bigger problem for Trump looks like a probable tactic to me.

There has already been a big rise in the interest rates needed to sell the debt as confidence in the USA has declined. China could make that worse. It’s like Liz Truss times 10!

He probably still thinks a guy eating bat in a market started it 🤭🤭🤭
I have no idea because I am not an expert and those that are only have theories. Not conclusive evidence.

The most compelling hypothesis I have read is the one in the WHO report mentioned in the BMJ. That a researcher from the Wuhan lab contracted the virus whilst collecting samples from a cave containing bats. It makes sense but is no more certain than any other.

A question for the anti-Trumpers. Why are the Democrats making so much fuss about this Abrego-Garcia fella? What is the upside for them?

Struggling to see it. How is it going to switch voters back to them? There is massive support for deporting illegals and gang-members especially.

Why are they putting so much time and effort into this? Utterly perplexed by the tactics because they have just lost an election, massively, based on Trump promising to deport illegals so of all the battles to fight, why this one?

Am I missing something obvious or are Democrats just stupid?

Where was this criticism when the Obama administration was deporting far more than Trump ever has?
Far more, no. Very slightly more in 2 terms yes, compared to Trump’s one but he has over 3 1/2 years yet. Biden somewhat more than either Obama and Trump.

However, both Obama and Biden followed the law and didn’t simply ignore it.

That’s why there is criticism.

Of course. But don't forget you denied the lab leak theory for years.

Yeah, apparently it didn't come approved from lawyers and editors you weren't meant to listen.

In his head it seems lawyers and editors are well known arbitrators of truth.

Turns out alternative media streaming from their basement was correct over his 'trusted' sources.

Who knew....

Just about anyone with common sense, but there you go.

You have proof!

Release it to the world. You will make a fortune.

Basement streamers know no more than you and you only know what those streamers tell you. Together that adds up to a big bag of nothing but hot air.

The Democrats aren’t stupid at all. It’s really very simple.

They believe in a law abiding society and if they see the administration not acting in accordance with the law then they are going to point it out.

Everyone is entitled to habeas corpus and this guy claims not to be a gang member. He therefore has the right for his removal to be examined by a judge to determine if it is legal, or not.

It’s very far from just Democrats who are concerned about this. All those who treasure democracy and the rule of law are. Whether Republican or Democrat. It’s only the MAGA mob who don’t care.

The Obama administration followed the law in all the 3 m + cases of deportation?
Where's the proof for this claim? Remember the proof which is imperative when anything Trump claims is disputed.

They were stupid enough to endorse a candidate capable of losing to Donald Trump.

You know perfectly well that I don’t have, and cannot obtain, the details myself but the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), who are normally involved in these issues, did file cases complaining about specific actions. Which the administration answered and argued in the Courts. As they should. If the law spoke it was followed. Not ignored.

Unlike now.

The reasons for that debacle are still being analysed. Time will enable a better perspective to gain understanding and won’t be fully available until the history books are written.

My own view is that the primary reason was Biden’s intransigence in delaying the transfer. Many of the senior Democrats were urging it be done earlier.

The administration which oversaw more deportations than any other in US history followed the law in very case. Right.
