Whether the current government are incompetent or not is entirely a matter of opinion. Some would say they inherited a situation that was already difficult and events since have added to the difficulties. I think myself it’s far too early to make an objective assessment.

The last were in power for long enough to form an opinion. All governments become unpopular because they must actually do things and not just promise to do things.

I don’t believe there is any real influence. Those who administer the law retain independence from political pressure. Of course there will always be a degree of social and political pressure in society generally which can trickle down but direct influence?

I was thinking this myself. And it would be a good idea. But then if he stayed in office JD Vance can fully concentrate on an election campaign.

This could happen, especially if ill health is involved.....US presidents have been too old for no good reason, it's like a western Saudi.

I wouldn't be surprised if another respiratory virus turned up in his last year either.

Vance is a more articulate talker than Trump and there are quite a few talents in Trump's cabinet who will be facing off against each other come that time.

Rubio is another strong contender, Bondi might even throw her hat in the ring.
