US Politics

The Wissie challenge probably not the best one to use, given his ability to mention Trump on most threads. Is this not the Political forum, so mentioning Labour should not come as a surprise, should it?Did he mention Labour on the post you replied to?
When the current incompetent in the WH is dominating the news agenda, sending markets tumbling, causing long established alliances to crumble and politicians to urgently reevaluate priorities he is involved in every thread!

That said I just checked and my last 13 posts made no mention of him!

Still it makes a good story.

Apologies, I said most threads whereas I should have said every thread, apparently

I suspect its much more to do with not liking being crossed, especially by a country much smaller than the US.
Nobody should really be surprised - its the usual type of Trump behaviour and all in line with his apparent desire to act like a strong man/dictator. Unfortunately, its now impacting all of us and shows just what an unstable person the US has at its head.
His world view seems to be based on the "spheres of influence model" - US, China and Russia. That view, however ill informed, at least gives some context to his comments re Canada and Greenland. Good luck with that!

He's gone in with biggest boy in the playground mentality to make an impact. Not sure he's really thought through (or more likely has, and doesn't care about) the longer term consequences to the US.

There are some in the US who believe he became a Russian asset decades ago and his business failures have been propped up by the support he has been given.

Now I know they love a conspiracy theory but that one does have a grain of sense in it. It has looked probable since 2016 when he was helped into the WH by misinformation spread from Russia that they have some kind of hold over him.

He certainly envies Putin’s ability to do things without having to bother with democracy. Just look at the bypassing of Congress we are now witnessing. The US now being governed by Executive Order.

How long Congress will tolerate it is an open question which will only be answered when it becomes clear whether their seats are threatened or not. If the economy turns down, as it appears to be, Trump’s approval rating goes further south, having already seen the quickest decline in recent times then the rebellion will start. It will only take a couple of Republican Senators to vote with the Democrats and things get difficult.

Is your first paragraph a conspiracy theory? Could be Could it not?
Still glad you have got over Trumps election victory, just as you said you would 👍

Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory. Even you it seems these days 🤣

Yes it’s a conspiracy theory. Americans create a lot of them.

We all have no choice other than to “get over it”! It’s done. History. Now is for dealing with the consequences not trying to overturn the result. That’s the kind of approach that Trump himself adopts.

That though doesn’t mean we just lay down and accept the nonsense. It needs to be constantly called out for the destructive, incoherent, rambling disruption it is creating.

Trump has always used the BIG LIE technique. Tell a lie often enough and it becomes so commonplace as to be accepted as the truth.

I am but a small voice in an obscure forum but there are much bigger voices constantly calling out these lies. They are being heard. I sense a small but marked swing away from Trump in the last few weeks in the USA. How fast it grows and where it takes us is another question but there is hope.

I don’t love it! I just have read it, so mentioned it. I don’t believe it, but I do think there is something not quite right about the relationship Trump has with Putin. It’s illogical. We might need to wait until both are dead to really know, and perhaps not even then.

Russia Russia Russia

How are you still banging on about this too despite everyone telling you how much of a disingenuous point it is?

It's plainly obvious to everyone else other than yourself when you're clutching at straws in a field where you have limited understanding. I've spoken to people on cocaine in kitchens at 5am that have more contrition than you do.
Did you grab a bag ?
