US Politics

You seem to have plenty of time on your hands. So off you go and tell us what lies she has said.

Karoline comes with receipts ...you just come with excuses 🤣
Don’t you understand “almost everything”?

I am not going to waste my time playing silly games with you. Anyone with half a brain recognises what she is doing just by observing her. That you constantly defend her, Trump and others in his autocracy, is all they need to know. Trump has been a fake, a liar, throughout his life and employs sycophants who lie for him. Putting eye candy to be his press secretary is typical of him. She isn’t there to inform. She is there to distract.

Any “receipt” issued by someone like her isn’t fit to be used as toilet paper.

It could just be that those with fewer qualifications have lower paid jobs, live in less affluent areas and are more disillusioned with the established political system so vote for a President they regard as an outsider.
The Midwest also known as the rust belt or flyover states.

There are many areas of America which were industrial, mining, car production farming. The people that live there may believe that Trump is a better option whilst a software engineer in California will think it's the Democrats.

Quite. Reality versus idealism.

What happens though when those people, who you correctly identify, begin to realise that the person they regarded as their saviour is actually not looking after their interests?

Trump is lining his own, his family’s and his billionaire backers pockets. He is proposing spending money on projects of no interest to the “less affluent”. Tariffs on the things they buy raises prices. Their healthcare has become unaffordable.

The cracks are already showing. Some are prising them wider. What you describe is the past. Not the future.

Yup if the only employers in your area are mining companies why bother with a degree.

Likewise California has a very middle class population with money to spend. There are plenty of jobs in IT and Finance, lots of law firms etc so a good quality degree is worth getting for job prospects. But because California is a Liberal "woke"state it's even worth getting a so called softer degree e.g. Racial studies or Feminism as examples. You will probably still find employment or even setup up your own art gallery or Tofu shop.

Even if they do want to go onto further education many families can't afford the minimum $100,000 it costs in America.

That's because the figures quoted relate to an election in the past. What happens in the future is another question.

This is a little bit of a myth! Whilst truer for California than for some other States, there are still plenty of jobs in manufacturing and farming there. When I drove from San Francisco to LA I was amazed at the size and number of the farms.

the rust belt .......... The people that live there may believe that Trump is a better option whilst a software engineer in California will think it's the Democrats.

if THEY believe otherwise THEY will keep it to themselves. We now live in a new McCarthy Era.....your political opinions will get you fired. So work at the Tech Giant, wave the rainbow flag, the climate change flag, the Palestine Flag with Pride. Dye your hair purple if you want to keep your job.

Its very clear that a ton of people voted for Trump in spite of appearing to be otherwise in public. A bit like Nigel Farage or Marine Le Pen. Keep quiet about your opinions for fear of being metaphorically crucified. Or some types of blasphemy ? fear of literally getting your head chopped off by an Islamist.

You seem to be missing his point.

It's not specifically about California, which still has a firm body of Republican voters (and was a red state before Reagan's amnesty for illegals).

The point was about profession types and the types of voters found within them.

The point PalazioVecchio made chimes well with my experiences within teaching. If you are right wing and that's known, you won't be favoured for promotion and will find it harder to progress your career. Thus certain professions become dominated by the left and a political group think.

In the past, back in more socially conservative times, being left wing within a more conservative profession wasn't death for your career. Mainly due to the right wing's respect for merit, as in if you were good at your job your politics wasn't considered as important..

Whereas today, if you are in certain professions and it becomes known that you are right wing....they consider you a problem and the left won't promote you regardless of merit.

As were many of the screaming leftist haters in the US states shown in your chart.

The moral of the story is tertiary education is not an indicator of intelligence or rational thought.

Yes Owen, being highly educated has absolutely no correlation with intelligence. And further education absolutely does not teach you objective rational thought and challenging what you are told. Absolutely not. What a waste of time for all concerned.

The mental gymnastics you lot have to play with yourselves to rationalise your own positions is quite something to behold.

Indeed, it's a silly point.

You only have to look at other more conservative countries to see the reverse.

China is intellectually doing better than the US with graduates and isn't a left wing country at all. Russia have some of the best technology in certain areas and the left are a minority....Indeed the Russian communist party is amusingly actually pretty socially conservative compared to the west.

No, It's about culture within the country and thus professions.

It shows a lack of thought because obviously professions were more conservative in the past so is he actually pushing the idea that people were less intelligent in the past?

It's a pretty dim contention.
