US Politics

Where? Surely not on the internet how can that be trusted? In your own words “ you probably know no more than anyone else on this board”
The internet is not a single source of information any more than the telephone is. It’s the means of distribution. Not the source. There’s good, bad and evil there. Lies and truths. Trustworthy sources and untrustworthy ones.

It’s up to each of us to decide which we trust. I do so based on experience, verification from other sources that I have learned to trust, and logic. As often as I can I try to listen to what people actually say rather than read reports by others on what they said.

There are many subjects that I will know no more than others. However there are some, of special interest to me, in which I might know more.

Their overall budget is materially controlled by government but how they spend it isn’t.

More importantly nor are this government involved in programme making or have any influence over content.
The government determine their budget and appoint the Chairman and non-executive board.
Do advertiser's have any influence over content on commercial channels?

Trump suddenly isn't in the Epstein files at all. That's handy.
Apparently he has now said that all the documents should be released and he “doesn’t care”!

Cue Pam Bondi, if the Senate passes the Act requiring the release and Trump signs it, reluctantly announcing a delay because there is an open Justice Department investigation for which the files must be kept because to release them could compromise legal procedures.

Wanna bet against that happening?

I didn’t say he should. However as he seems to think he knows everything, and was suggesting the BBC was state owned, the presenter jumped in to “assist” him. Except she lied.
she didn’t lie. She said it was paid for by the public. Which it partly is. And because the tax payer pays hmg who then give the rest to the bbc fundamentally She was correct.

Yes. Of course they do.

Not direct but in a: you used that foul language, made a "questionable" political comment etc. and half our sponsors have threatened to withdraw sense.

Very much so in the US and have done for decades. If you look at recent history since WW2 advertisers have regularly insisted on certain shows or stars being cancelled and the networks have folded.

Normally it's because the ratings are not good enough but if you were black or a commie back in the day you didn't last long.
