US Politics

Obviously he was armed just not with the correct item for shoot out. Should’ve thought about it prior to breaking into a farmers house. You know farmers who own guns. 🤦
Not being liked by the deluded Cornish resident is an absolute endorsement in normal society.

Of course he met him....

That’s one version. Not his of course. Others are that he was lying in wait for them, having been tormented by them earlier. He never showed any kind of remorse.

'Having being tormented by them earlier" is the key take-away from this sentence.

Also, if he was lying in wait for them, it suggests it was a nailed on certainty that they were going to come back and break in again. He wasn't paranoid, he was correct.
And what sort of catastrophic failing of Policing and duty of care is that? One that allows repeat offenders to torment their victims?

Trump has really dropped the ball.

He's not supporting the base.....the base who got him over that line.

He pushes that H1B visas are needed for Asians of all types, which is direct competition for the American worker and a betrayal of why Trump was seen as a saviour in the first place.

He seems obsessed with Israel's interests.....writing a letter looking to get Netty pardoned.....I mean what the feck has Israel's politics got to do with him? This relates to my belief that Trump just works for his donors.

He's put forward the idea of 50 year mortgages! What kind of sh1t deal is that for young people. Ben Shapiro comes out with, well if you can't afford to live in the city you grew up in then you should move.....What???

Young men are the drivers for the GOP you feck faces!

Personally I'm not seeing how Trump comes back from all this.....kind of hope I'm wrong, but unless he reverses quick and also comes clean on the Epstein stuff.....I just don't see him retaining enough power in the GOP.

The GOP aren't as stupid as the Democrats were with Biden.

Israel and his evangelical base are as one. I doubt that letter will hurt him.

Shapiro's comment reminiscent of Tebibit's getting on the bike speech. It divided opinion but lost none of the Tory base, and this won't either.

The visa issue will hurt though. That completely stands against his pledges and all that hard work promising (but not building) a wall and forced removal of illegals (through showpiece tokenistic migrant raids that barely scraped the surface of the scrapings it happened upon).

Withhold or selectively disclose. Either makes one focus on what has not been disclosed.

Sunlight is the best antiseptic. Release the lot.

It's rotten all the way down.....especially in the intel/security area.....too much protected funding and secrecy...dual loyalties.....Not enough morality in the people there.

Too many maggots.

When it does eventually go down....because those in power realise that this isn't going away.....all those maggots who are connected to it and considered important will have received advanced notice and have made contingencies or have fled.

You heard it here first.

Whatever files may be released, cannot be allowed to compromise this Stacey Plaskett trial. That’s 100s of names too. So if it is not as damaging as you expect - know that all is not hinging on those files.

I've no problem with any burglar being shot.

I know you probably don't follow politics on the America right but there is a massive war going on for the future direction of the movement. Trump seems to be on one side of that......It is a massive problem on the right.

I'd already considered this....there is a relationship....but it goes a lot further than what Tebbit said because of the added context of massive recent immigration and competition from foreign workers.

American GOP voters expect the GOP to put their interests first.....not the interests of big business donors who want a scheme to employ their replacements on lower wages.

Yep, it relates to what the base thought they were getting.....and what they are being served.

Trump seems to be going back on what his initial appeal was in the first place.

I don't. What is the other side (to Trump) saying?

NB Nutshell bullets PLEASE!!! if you send me lots of links I don't have time to read them.

Before you reply, it sounds like his base is fracturing under him. I know the left are siding against the Israeli government, but (part of) the right was news to me.

It really came down to the assassination of Charlie Kirk (many on the left didn't realise just how important he was to the GOP). Not just politically but emotionally.....he was like a linchpin....like that important person in the family....if a family is lucky enough to have one......who keeps all the relationships inline and connected and the family together.

Kirk was a massive bridge between both wings of the GOP and now that he's gone there's been war between those wings. Kirk was very pro Israel but also critical of the demands of Jewish donors and he refused to cancel his friendships with Carlson and Owens despite threats.

Now he's gone a huge rift has opened up between those who are critical of US policies that they say advantage Israeli interests over American ones and those that regard Israel supporting policies as in America's best interests.

Most of the largest US influencers who aren't Jewish have come out against what they see as an Israeli first foreign policy, so that's Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and recently Megan Kelly and others. Against them seems to be the Israeli government (funding opposition) Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin and Christian Zionists.

They all pretty much agree on everything else but this one issue but the schism has been so large and the stuff has got so personal that it's probably too wounding to heal.

$3.8 billion a year in federal funding of Israel is loose change to the USA. Unless there are more hidden donations that come out of the US taxpayer's pocket (e.g. subsidized military hardware, intelligence sharing, US satellite imaging etc.)?

Or is this pure non-interventionism: it's over there so nothing to do with us. I get that, in a way. Why pull out of Afghanistan and pull back on Ukraine but devote huge State Dept resources to protecting one small country thousands of miles away?

Or perhaps it is a thought that siding 100% with one could alienate other important trading states in the region like the Saudis?

Or a combination of the above?

Was Kirk pro-Israel?

I know he was originally, but more recently he had started to shift.

There was a video of him questioning the events of 7/10/13, whether Israeli security 'allowed' it to happen to enable wider geo-political goals.
He noted that Hamas easily penetrated the most well defended border in the world, questioning whether there was an order to 'stand down' and asked why it took 6 hours + to respond.

I imagine these questions went down like 'a sack of s*** on the doorstep' in Israeli circles.
