No chance. I don’t play silly games like that. I like to defeat poor arguments with better ones, calmly and persistently. I seek to convince, not confront. No matter the provocation, insults or disagreements.

Which is stark contrast to the aggression I encounter here from those who appear to be prepared to use violence to get their own way. Which to me is just being a bully. If anyone will be “come for” in the future it will be the bullies, whether here or in the USA.
 
Following the indictment of Comey and the underlying direction being taken by Trump I have been watching and reading a lot of analysis of what this means and where it could lead. Too much to post here but can be summarised as that a lot of people are very seriously concerned. Not so much for themselves as for their country. They are worried that the Supreme Court could be ignored and anyone in the military who refuses to commit to following the order of their Supreme Commander will be fired.

As Antony Zurcher in today’s analysis points out if Nixon had tried anything like this it would have provoked outrage from all sides. Trump does it and all it gets is a shrug:-

The Comey indictment isn't some Nixonian coup it is long overdue accountability for a Deep State hack who lied to Congress, leaked classified info, and weaponised the FBI against Trump.

Trump is delivering what he promised and more. It's going to be a cracking few years ahead of us!

James Comey is an honourable man who kept his oath of office to the Constitution and refused to agree to be directed by the incumbent President. Unlike the current rat pack of sycophants. The Justice Department has been reduced to being just a tool for Trump. Anyone who believes in democracy ought to be deeply concerned.

The people will stop Trump. Once they understand that their rising costs and higher debts are directly due to him, whilst he and his mates have got even richer, they will turn. Precisely when is unclear but by the midterms at the latest.

There will always still be some so stupid they cannot see he is actually an idiot. I bet if you were on board the Titanic you would have been convinced it was only stopping to take on ice, when it hit the ice berg!

But he is their elected representative and is responsible for taking decisions on their part. If Americans don't like it they have the opportunity to vote for someone else. Or does this view only pertain to candidates of whom you approve?

To attribute that to neoliberals and hippies is a woeful misrepresentation of a worldwide phenomenon. It’s the reasoning of the determined regressive. The world has changed in so many ways. Liberalism is a reflection of those changes. Not the cause of them. To try to turn the tide of these changes is a pointless waste of time.

It seems to me that’s what the right are consumed by. Trying to turn back time and impose yesterday on today. Rather than embracing the new, including the things you don’t like, and enjoying the life we have. Not spend all your life in a fruitless pursuit of the unachievable.

He is not their representative. Representatives are elected to Congress. Which is a co-equal branch of government in the US system. He is the President. Not the sole determinant of policy. Public servants take an oath to the Constitutional. Not to an individual.

So you believe this indictment then? One that every legal expert I have heard says has next to no chance of even getting to Court, let alone succeeding.

Trump has scuppered the case himself with all his goading and pressure, thus proving, if proof was needed, that he is an idiot.

As is anyone who still supports him.

He represents the Country and is responsible for the Federal branch of government.

The people themselves are represented by (guess who) the Representatives in the House of Representatives, and the Senators in the Senate.
