I think he was the idiot hiding in the bushes in Florida as Trump played golf. Don’t think Trump got anywhere close to him and was unaware of him being detained. It was inevitable he would be found given the security that accompanies Trump.

Just another example of the consequences of a lack of gun control in a deeply divided country.

Having just looked up his politics it is wrong to categorise him as on the “left”. He is an unaffiliated former Trump supporter now disillusioned with him over Ukraine.

Having heard the ridiculous speech by Trump at the UN today, which no one at all should be able to take seriously I just read something that cheered me up, a little.

I like David Frum. He has a clear and analytical mind that cuts through the noise and sees the bigger picture. Only yesterday I listened to his analysis of why Trump putting such high tariffs on India is a crass, self defeating mistake. This though holds promise:-

He is a donor to the Democratics, I would call that "Left".

Isn't it funny how you keep on associating people who want to kill republicans and conservatives as with the right wing, with mental illness, a lack of gun control and always unaffiliated with anything. You just aren't based at all, and EVERYONE can see it. You just make a fool of yourself.

That’s a large part of the problem. The way the right see things in black and white. They want to put everyone who disagrees with them in a generic basket.

I think it’s much more likely he was just so disillusioned with Trump he would do anything to get rid of him. Being prepared to shoot him does tend to confirm that. Give him a more reasonable Republican, rather than a wanna be dictator, and he would soon be supporting them. There are plenty of swing voters. Ever heard of them in your own echo chamber or are they all lefties too?

It’s this rigidity that’s foolish. Not me. You no more speak for everyone than I do. In truth in the real world, and not in small echo chambers, my views are probably much more typical.
 
I can't believe (actually I can) how much the media has downplayed the Trump assassination attempt. This was not some sado who had fantasies and sent threats but did nothing, it was a genuine attempt.

Trump was putting on one hole the sniper was setup up on the green of the next hole so he would have walked right into the cross hairs. Fortunately security spotted a rifle barrel in the bushes and opened fire.

The media has reported it but it's been fairly low down the list of news items. if that had been Obama it would have been 24hr coverage.

No you didn't. In the quote Trump said women should limit use during pregnancy. You then claim, in the next line, that he said women should not overdose on paracetamol during pregnancy.

Trump was guided by quack research that use of any paracetamol could cause autism. It is based on a highly questionable study of 43 (forty three!) subjects which nut job in chief Kennedy finds reliable. A unicellular amoeba will tell you that autism rates have dramatically increased due to comparably dramatic rises in referral of children for testing and improved diagnosis. It has feck all to do with mild pain killers taken within prescribed limits of 8 a day, 2 every 4 hours.

This is the sort of bollox you get from patriarchal types who have never had to endure labour pain. It is bad enough them interfering with female reproductive rights. A woman on labour would tell him to feck off to his face if he suggested she limit her consumption below the prescribed rates.

You know, after the frankly insane comments he made in 2020 about Covid... Injecting disinfectants and taking chloroquine - an anti-malarial drug - where ingestion is linked to 17,000 deaths... from Covid! In any sane world, the moment he came up with that bobbins about disinfectant, the men in the white coats and big net should have taken him away. But there he stands, spouting the same unhinged piffle.

I guess this time the only thing he will cause will be increased pain. But at least it is only increased pain in women, right?

For the record I don't think Trump is a liar. I think he gives his version of truth every time he speaks. That truth may differ from day to day or even hour to hour, but he (more or less) genuinely believes it.

I think you are very generous and what you're saying could be said of many people who lie.

I think Trump does lie....quite often...typical real estate guy....on the make as a matter of course.

I also think that there are occasions when you're right to say he's presenting it as he sees it.....and it isn't always accurate but not always lying. He isn't a precision guy with language and never was, his skills are elsewhere.

It's also true that Trump is often lied about by his opponents both half truths and real deliberate root and branch lies.....like Russia-gate.
 
I look at Trumps changing attitude to Ukraine as an indicator of how his allegiance changes, not just to changing circumstances, but to things such as State visits. Some people he gives more leeway to than others.
I think this is part of his strategy to keep people on their toes, but also part of his negotiating skillset, where it's possible he could do something random, without warning

I'm wondering why Trump has suddenly got a bug up his arse about autism.

There clearly hasn't been enough research on a link with any medication to make a definitive claim.
A perceived increase in cases hasn't really been substantiated either, as far as I know.

He should stick to slagging of Sadiq Khan. He makes most people sick.
