Trump facing one of those decisions that really does branch off down two directions with the decision to 'officially' attack Iran or not.

He's already split his base by going this far, so I imagine he'll continue but we'll see.

I think he's made a mistake and that there are plenty of negatives to come from this but it's done now.

It's difficult for Trump to portray himself as different from the neo cons now.....literally the same as Bush who he criticised so much coming up.

Said a lot but when he got back in power just carried on as a neo con working for his donors and wall street.

Kennedy allowed Cuba to be invaded from US soil, by Cubans and the CIA, but refused to provide air support so the fiction was that the US did not attack Cuba. It failed due to lack of military support and all it did was wind up Castro who turned to Russia and hence the Cuban missile crisis.

You can't be a little bit pregnant.

Rightly or wrongly Israel has kicked the hornets Iran's nuclear weapons program must now be destroyed and hopefully regime change. It looks like the US are the only ones capable of doing that and if they don't Iran may get revenge and nuke someone.

Personally if I was Trump I would have stopped Israel but if you give Mike Tyson a slap you'd better be prepared for a fight.

Kennedy inherited the attack and felt pressured into it.

There was air support that did attack but Kennedy limited the strikes and didn't follow them up, which was needed.....Like you say you can't be a little bit pregnant when it comes to war and he most definitely was.

The parallel with Trump seems accurate, he's gone along with getting himself into the current situation.....and there are lots of ways this doesn't work out well.

Regardless, If the Iranian regime is allowed to or manages to survive then they most definitively will be looking for a nuclear bomb....and quite frankly for obvious reasons from their perspective.

But if it is overthrown then what's he overthrowing it too? This isn't a funded stage managed affair like funding a load of their sold out ISIS to take over in Syria.

If a new regime takes over the US/Israel are still left with a population that is burning with hatred and resentment and all they have managed to do is kick the can down the road and in the meantime damaged themselves considerably in the region.

Can't help but feel that old Netty has played Trump like a kipper here because this only really works short term for him and his cabinet.....and the neo cons that Trump chose to surround himself with.

Meantime Trump is left damaged both with internal base support and externally in the region.....unless Saudi and Qatar are actually cheering this on, but Egypt and Jordan and Iraq most definitely won't be.....let alone Turkey and Pakistan.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya its the same old tune but you could go back further to the Vietnam years which Wilson kept us out of.

War against a perceived future threat is in any case illegal under international law, there must imo be a system or there will be chaos, and that is what Netanyahu has been leading the USA and now western governments, into.
