UK Police and Judiciary out of control?

Not sure if this is an attempted arrest, or the officer just fancies him.
Either way, careful what you buy in JD Sports

its easy, just tell the copper you are a member of one of the 'protected classes of people'.....and accuse the cop of being .....ophobic. And the Cop will stop faster than a Vampire who saw a Holy-Cross.

Alternatively the cops could visit the Oval at Kennington and arrest whoever is tooled up in the middle of the pitch.

Unless he stole the bat this situation looks like a failure of both the guy, the store and the officer.

I think the law says you can't just walk down the street with what could be seen as an offensive weapon. However, if these items are available for purchase in the highstreet there has to be a level of common sense.

It should be packaged properly and I would question how this isn't the situation. From the behaviour of the Policeman I can only summise that he considers this stolen.

However, if this item was purchased legally then I'd also question how this escalated to the degree that the customer has been attacked by the Police. I'd also question his lack of cooperation with the Police when stopped, which is never a good idea.....However.

I've lost trust in the Police myself and don't think they deserve the benefit of the doubt considering their attitudes to anyone who isn't considered a 'protected class'.
