UK Police and Judiciary out of control?

Anyone else seen that clip of the two female coppers (one of them really fit) that turn up at a house asking the mum to hand over her daughter's phone cos the girl read a post on it.

they ask the mum not to film it (when she is allowed to) and threaten her with all sorts including dragging them down the station!!
Yes I saw it. The worst aspect of it was that they also then forcibly entered the property without a warrant and took the child's phone!
Breaking every established rule of good policing. A disgrace to the force.

Yes, unbelievable. The leader of a rival political party who criticised the government
We are in deep trouble.
And for those who frame it as an old-fashioned right-left issue it is right on cue, George is a veteran of the traditional left.

I wasn't surprised by this one because the same thing happened to a friend of mine - detained at Gatwick Airport, interrogated for hours and her phone taken. Their 'crime'? attending a 'Stop the Gaza Genocide' event.

What total tosh!

They apply the law. They don’t make it. Laws that we, via our elected representatives, have determined are necessary.

You can campaign for change and decide that Reform will deliver it, but you ought not blame the public servants who try to do their jobs. That’s what Trump is doing and we are surely better than that?

Sorry but that doesn't begin to cut it unless you have hiding in a cave for the last 5 years.

They are not applying the law. That's the point. They are making it up as they go along.
There are multiple examples every day. You just have to look.

What law is being applied here? Police confiscate a young girl's union jack

Yep, I'm obviously on the right but this shouldn't be happening.

Criticising the government or seeing foreign leaders/officials with whom we aren't at war isn't a valid reason to detain someone.....seems like an intimidation tactic to me. This is just one of many many examples.

Detaining people for attending rallies against government policy is also outrageous.

Both Labour and the Tories passed laws that have eroded civil liberties in this country to the level where essentially they can do pretty much what they want to you finding some legal waffle to justify it.

Tinpot country compared to our past.

Never been of fan of his but this is disgraceful. If he was stopped and detained, then this was a planned operation, so why was he not arrested and charged?

The Americans would call this a fishing expedition in that they hoped to find incriminating evidence on his phone but they did not have any evidence that law breaking existed.

I hope he sues them and wins.

What next police pulling people over because they suspect they "might" be speeding but don't know?

I am no expert on this but I understand that there are different rules in airports. Anyone can be pulled under terrorism measures. You don't have a right to silence or a lawyer present, and phones and laptops can simply be confiscated based on 'suspicion'. I only (half) know this because it happened to my friend at Gatwick.
Seems like they will now routinely abuse these 'rules' for fishing operations, as you say.

Some now leave smart phones and lap-tops at home and just take old nokias with a handful of key numbers though airport security.

Nail on head.

Seems to be another example of over-reach.

Almost since mobile phones became popular it's been common knowledge among criminal types to give a phone to someone else when working to help provide an alibi when it's whereabouts are traced.
The stopping migrants working excuse might have more validity if ID cards had had more effect in Germany and France.

Hardly. The traditional left would have nothing to do with him.

He wasn’t arrested. He was interviewed because of the trip he had made. It’s not that unusual. Anyone who has a history of associating with proscribed organisations, like him, must expect it and we must be thankful.

You would complain if a known sympathiser of ISIS was ignored when they entered the UK from a suspect country? So why complain about Galloway.

I would interview Farage every time he came back from the USA!

It’s what our security forces are paid to do.

A photo has now been mocked up with starmer and khan't as the 2 female coppers.

Just on the topic of those two female officers. They do look familiar as I feel like I have seen them on other videos. (Or at least the Blondie one) So am wondering if they might be actors.

Of course I could be completely wrong. So will carry out some investigation 🕵🏻‍♂️

That's ridiculous. He's not in any way a sympathiser of ISIS, quite the opposite.

He has pointed out and criticised how the west and Israel had covertly funded and supported ISIS as a means to remove Assad from power in Syria.
The state doesn't like being called out for its crimes and the state doesn't like Galloway.

My initial thought was that it must be fake as well. But West Midlands Police have already confirmed that they are police officers carrying out an investigation. They said the offence was more serious than a child viewing a social media post and that the householders video had been edited - But then they would say that wouldn't they?

Either way, enough info has come to light to confirm they were real police officers conducting a real investigation.

I see police are to be given new powers to stop repeat protesters. I think this is the breaking point of the removal of civil liberties. Now the police are even more politicised in being able to chose the protests they do not permit, and then intervene.

I just feel the inevitable slide towards a police state, where everything about the individual is monitored and action taken on words, speeches, protests and gatherings.

"The Home Secretary told the BBC the move was not a ban on protests but "about restrictions and conditions".

Mahmood told the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme she accepted Jewish people who are angry with the government can be justified in doing so."

So successive Government failures have led to this point. So blame the public and restrict their activities by police force. Disgraceful.
