Does anybody see a time when Nigel Farage (currently 3.5 to 1 Favorite with bet365 to be next Prime minister) looking at him pally pally with Trump and Musk in Mar-a-lago with Nick Candy, Reforms new Treasurer, a billionaire married to Holly Vallance, once tried to buy Chelsea, it smacks a bit like Trump and Musk running the UK, with Farage as Puppet. Thoughts?

i dunno about Farage. But i am struggling to remember the last time the incumbent in Number 10 was Statesmanlike.....

Thatcher , maybe ?

the last dozen or so, of them, have been like a Celebrity Dance competition.

Fair play to Ed Davey though Doesn't even bother with the pretence of Statesman (As no chance of being PM) straight to I am a celeb ......... ready for when I step down 🤣

He's effective but not a stateman.

Churchill and Attlee were and possibly Macmillan, then you start scraping the barrel. Blair had media presence but the morals of a snake.

Thatcher was a statesman outside the UK but too divisive internally.

I want no money from Musk in British politics. I want no money from Soros in British politics.

Problem is the Great British Public don't want to pay for our system.

All MP's should be earning well in excess of £200,000 per year with their private offices fully funded directly by the tax-payers. Each MP from outside of London is provided with a free three bedroom apartment within walking distance of the HoC and they are given free-first class rail travel. And ZERO outside income with an expectation of them being in Parliament for 46 weeks of the year. The entire lobbying culture needs to be eradicated in totality. And when MP's leave office, they need to be effectively banned from making any speeches for money (which is how our current system is corrupted beyond belief) along with being employed by any organisation that is anyway linked to HMG policy. Maybe even still paid their salary for 5 years after leaving office and employed in some kind of public service organisation.

None of this will happen by the way and the corruption will become even worse.

Money in politics in the UK pales in comparison to the US; it's appalling, and corrupt as hell. These are very preliminary estimates of how much was "spent" in the 2024 race...

Not sure that matters.

All I really care about is UK politics, followed by European. And in the Americans defence, they are a nation that is just purely about money. Even its revolution was really just an anti-tax protest that got out of hand.

I admire Musk. But I don't want a penny of his money influencing UK politics.

All parties have taken donations from foreigners. How is it a bad thing when a guy on our team puts in a lot of money?
Labour have donations from big unions. Why shouldn't Reform become a force in politics with Musk's money?
Business influence is a fact of life.

Because Musk is not British. If you cannot vote in a British election, you should not be able to fund a British political party.

The bigger picture is surely more important.

We need Reform to grow, or it will be the Tories again next time. I have had enough of the two party system. We need change and soon.

I don't like the idea of Musk bank rolling any party in this country however I noticed that up until now it hasn't been a problem for either Labour or the Tories.

Odd that the Electoral Commission is now demanding changes.

Precisely.

Elon Musk works to his own agenda.
If you think he is doing this for the benefit of anyone else but himself you are mad. He is a megalomaniac who owns a major social media outlet that he runs on his rules.
Being in the pocket of Elon Musk is not good. Be careful what you wish for.
So is Keir Starmer judging by recent events.

Musk is a means to an end. Don't fool yourself that our government isn't already the puppet of big business.
