Tyler Dibling

He did but that’s a bit misleading. He cleared the ball from a Rangers attack and the Rangers defender bizarrely left it for the striker to lob Butland in goal and the second “assist” was basically that he took a corner and an unmarked player knocked it in.

He looked perfectly competent and hard working- but had no stand out characteristic (skill, pace) that would suggest he ought be worthy of such a price tag.

I think there is little doubt that nobody will be able to fill the void left by Ebs. He is a one off.

We’ve been linked with a £32 million quid bid for the lad at Brugge (who are holding out for £40 million) - so I watched their game against Rangers last night. Underwhelming to say the least! Put me in mind of the master stroke we pulled off in the 90’s replacing Wrighty with Gabiadini!

So I came to the conclusion that whoever we bring in to play on the left (I’m not going to say replace Ebs) I think has to have a touch of the “maverick” about him - something that makes you get to your feet and go “wow”!

Palace have a rich history of this from Vince Hillare, to Wilf and Yala. I think Dibling might be the next one IF we can get him. He has so much potential to become a game changer and I think that’s why his price tag is so high.
It’s a gamble, but there no better place for a youngster to develop that the one at Palace.
good post.

I do like Jonathan Rowe and it appears he needs a new club. Has lost his way a little and didn't look great for U21s this summer (when played out of position as a No 9) but has raw talent.

When at Norwich he reminded me of Eze when he had a free role at QPR and was cpabale of scoring a few wonder goals.

At Marseille he seems to have been used more on the wing, playing on the left and cutting in on his stronger right foot. He is a good dribbler with quick feet.

A bit of an Eze/Wilf mash up - makes him perfect for us IMHO.

BTW i know he was young, but Dibling did previously leave Saints for Chelsea and failed to settle in London so maybe he is just a quiet local lad who needs to feel at home. Another Matt LeTissier perhaps (without the conspiracy theories etc)

This guy is a top prospect being watched by a number of the major clubs. Can’t see us competing with them.
Was it not the case that Olise, Eze and Wharton were being watched by the top clubs? We committed and got them all in and they have delivered great football for us and two trophies with the latter two.

Let's believe in the recruitment team that they can find the right profile to fit the system, persuade those players to join and see them flourish at the club.

We are an attractive prospect relative to any other time in our history!!!

You are right but I was thinking like Belfast.

Older fans have seen us used as steps on others' ladders for our whole supporting lives.

It will take a while to recondition the whole fan base to the fact that, actually, we are quite the catch.

My dad had me supporting Palace from birth but i started in '86 consciously supporting from my own will (once the brain washing was complete by my Dad).

I was young when we had the 1990 FA cup moment and 1991 season finishing 3rd. Then reality kicked in, two near liquidations, then came the championship years and the constant frustration that we could be more but always missed our chances.

Still nervous without that main stand built but we are in the best shape we've ever been. I'm trying to reprogram my brain too 🙂

He doesn’t look any better than Esse did unless I am missing something. I think Glasner is looking for people that have an immediate effect on the first team. Going to be an interesting window. Watching post game interviews last night was like we had lost

So difficult to know. Clickbait has us linked with 4-5 players. Of which only 2 I would suggest could have quick impact and unlikely to get either of them

I’m not completely convinced by Dibling, but as a prospect probably worth a punt if it was prospect money Southampton wanted. But it’s not. Olise, Eze, Wharton, only cost between them whats quoted for this kid. At £45 mill it’s experience we should be buying.

Ye worried this one would be too expensive.

Think I'd rather spend the money on a few talents.

Hackney 15m +add ons
Chukwuemeka 25m + add ons
Up and coming RB 10m
10m/15m young defender. Missed the boat with Rav Van den Berg

It's a weird one. I'd be excited if we signed him, as he looks full of potential. But on the flipside, I'd be flabbergasted if, after Parish's speech about being tight on money, we blew £45 million on a prospect. I can't help but feel the rumour about our interest is being used by Saints/player's agent to push Everton into making a better offer, but we'll see.

Samprior have you secretly been hiding in my kitchen?
I have been bending the missus’s ear for the last 3 weeks about how bemused I am that we haven’t gone for Hackney and Chukwuemeka!

Both would be excellent additions and
I honestly think (once he gets match fit) Chukwuemeka will be PERFECT for us and having discovered the hard way that the grass isn’t always greener at a big club - would probably be happy to stick around for a while.
