The point is there is/was no need for a " deal " in the first place. There was no legal ruling of any kind

We threw the chagossians off in the 1970s pretty much by order of the Americans.

I suspect they are still controlling matters.

Starmers role is largely rubber stamp.

Trump will be gone before Labour and whoever is in power here will need to find an agreement of some kind.
