Good isn't it , how many clubs can keep you entertained from preseason to the last day of the season , 55yrs of punishment for me but I'm now immune to anything that the club throws at me , so I make judgement after transfer window closes , not before

52 for me and I make you right, I haven’t been too bothered about anything since we sold Ian Wright and before that Kenny Sansom, nothing has matched that pain since 🤣 it’s a case of ‘whatever’ now!!
Having said that, if we sell Munoz to Chelsea I’m done 😩 he’s my favourite player and I fcuking hate Chelsea for family that I don’t like reasons, LaCriox I can cope with, but not Munoz as well😡

I'm an optimist by nature, but at the moment I'm swimming upstream. We have no depth whatsoever, and our better players tend to lose time to injury. Dean Henderson will see plenty of action unless Tyrick is moved to the back line. Our most valuable player after Deano is Munoz, and I don't see him contributing goals and assists without teammates like Sarr and Mateta. He (Muñoz) can still play brilliantly, but it will neither bring goals nor prevent them.
We need to sign an instant contributor at each level: defender, midfield, and attack. I doubt we will.

Glasner had a much better squad than Sage.
Very unfair to judge Sage on what we have as it’s just not good enough in certain areas.

I don't think they will get signed now, I think they get signed in January as a measure to ensure that the club stays up and avoids being relegated. Then they are sold off again in June.
I think we are living in The Palace Cycle.

I don't think squad depth will matter all that much, as I don't expect us to go anything like as deep into European competition as we did last season. It's a significant step up and we have a weaker side, especially once Mateta leaves, which he surely will.
That's the big concern for me: the first XI isn't all that good. A lot of people have said that the current team is much the same as the team that won the conference league, but I'm not reassured by that very much.
For one thing, the team will be weaker. By the end of last year we had Richards, Lacroix, and one of either Riad or Canvot. That's a back three with two senior players, including a good one in the middle, guiding a youngster on the left.
Instead, we will have a slightly less good player (Richards) promoted to the most senior position in the middle, which we haven't seen him in, trying to guide two players who haven't shown they can perform week in week out.
The forward line will be weaker if Mateta goes and Larsen plays instead. And that seems likely.
More to the point, we didn't have a particularly impressive team last year. We won the conference but that is a very low standard. In the league the team really struggled to score goals. Pino had some good moments in Europe but he was frequently awful in the league. There is not much more to say about Johnson. Nketiah hasn't happened at all. Esse, Franca, Rak Sakhi have done nothing whatsoever. Without Sarr we carry almost no threat. Lots of people seem strangely confident that Pino and/or one or two others named above will come good. I hope that's the case, but see little reason to expect it.
The thought that gave me hope was that Sage would change the system of play and, in so doing, maybe unlock something in some of these players, but he seems set on playing the same formation as Glasner. Very few of these forwards thrived in that shape last year.
In other words, it looks like the same set up with lesser players, and with many who previously struggled in it.

Munoz is 30 and getting on a bit. He will start to lose his value. I am guessing he will be pressing to leave soon to get a chance at a big salary before he retires. He might stay one more season as we are in Europe. p.s. only the 38 years for me.

Agreed. Some of the players dont suit our usual formation. But when they are paid over a million a year surely they should have the ability to adapt their game to it within a years training (looking at you Larsen, Johnson, Nketia).
59 years for me on the perpetual rollercoaster. Yes, Kenny Sansom leaving was especially painful and then Ian Wight - to the Arse as well! But even before that, Steve Kember and Alan Birchenall being sold together (was it the same day?) in the early 70s was a sign of the massive disappointments we have endured ever since where whenever things looked to be on the up the club seems to shoot themselves in the foot and take a massive step back
