Transfer Window 2026

Country
England
I know I did this last summer, but our activity this window has again been passive at best..!!

Rumours of clubs sniffing around Wharton, Lacroix and Sarr..!!

SP said after the Conference League win - we’ll learn from our window last summer..!!

Well ATM it’s following the same pattern..!!

We need another CDM - even if Wharton stays, a central defender - still haven’t replaced Guehi and another wide player - according to reports we’re not going to trigger the clause to sign Guessand on a permanent deal.

Saw a rumour today we’ve offered Mateta a new contract - where does that leave Larsen and Nketiah..??

Personally if Mateta signs new deal I’d be looking to move Larsen on - lot of money for someone that looks very average ATM..!!

Pre- season games start in a couple of weeks - Prem kicks off in just over a month..!!

We’re in the Europa, we need quality depth in the squad..!!

Come on SP - time to back up your words and start doing the do..!!

announcing a new signing is the final piece of a transfer. 99% of the work happens before that, out of the limelight and media (where possible). Work will be happening. Keep your knickers on and enjoy the world cup and fine weather we're having.

I dunno... we've signed Mingueza who looks to be a high quality defender on a free (and the announcement came out of nowhere), got Kamada to extend his stay, and nobody has left... yet. So far so good I'd say.

Also, Doucoure is back to full time training by the looks of it.

Yeah I get that - but Sage needs time to work with what will be his squad for next season..!!

He’s a new Manager and needs that time..!!

Yep Mingueza exactly the type of player we needed - desperately needed cover for Munoz and Mitchell last season. Great deal.

Kamada the same and great news that Doucoure is back in training and looking fit.

But it still leaves us short in central midfield - Hughes bless him just ain’t good enough and neither is Devenny.

Then we still haven’t replaced Guehi irrespective of what happens with Lacroix..!!

Then we’re still a wide player short..!!

He will want a signing on fee, he was on 250,000 a week at City, often injured and is 31
Yep so what..?? He won’t be on the same salary wherever he goes - he’ll know that..!!

At 31 on a free - so probably another good 4 years in him - with tons of Prem and International experience - bet he starts tonight over Konsa..!!

It’s a no brainer from where I sit..!!

He’ll be looking for a decent signing on fee. You know the sort of thing that made Daichi our highest paid player over the past 2 years, much to many fans’ disbelief !

Not sure on Kamada - had an iffy start - but showed his class in the end..!! So happy we’ve resigned him..!!

Think Stones would prove the same but in a shorter timeframe - there’s no substitute for class - and that’s what we need..!!

It’s just my opinion and football is a matter of opinion..!!

For once I am going to chill. What will be will be. Parish hasn’t done too badly in hindsight so what the f*** do I know. Keep calm and carry on.

I did read on another post about JPM being offered a new deal. This for me would be much better than taking a punt on an unknown surely.

Anyway… we will see when we see.

Most of our first choice players won't be back before the end of this month at the earliest and four of them (Henderson, Lacroix, Mateta and Pino) aren't likely to be back before 9th of August. In other words, Sage isn't going to have much time with the likely first team starters before the season starts anyway.

I suspect he'll be spending time assessing our fringe players such as Ozoh, Esse, Imray, Cardines, JRS and whether Doucoure is likely to make it back to anything like his best. There's no point buying new players if Sage and the club decide we already have what we need for the first half of the season.

Our first pre-season game is actually tomorrow.

As for all these players you say we need
  • Guehi has already been replaced - we brought both Riad and Canvot in as the next young potential CD stars and Mingueza is now here as the experienced option. As for John Stones, when was the last time he played even half a season? Not for me thanks
  • Despite all the rumours none of our players have yet gone.
  • Both Doucoure and Ozoh may be all we'll need to add depth to our midfield options
  • No need to jettison Larsen if Mateta stays. I suspect we'll need them both if we have good cup runs at home and in Europe. Nketiah's the one we need to offload if anyone will take him unless Sage can see a way of using him effectively (and he can stay fit for more than two games.
Like Den, I'm happy to chill at this stage.

When you put it like that things don't seem too bad. Maybe the club have agreed to let Sage work with the players so he can properly assess them before the January window.
Or we'll leave it until an hour before this one closes before selling Wharton and La Croix and then do a supermarket sweep for anyone available.

Clickbait suggests we’re looking at Matsima from Augsburg as a potential replacement for Lacroix should Chelskibor anyone else meet our valuation. Hopefully we ensure any outgoings are sanctioned only when we have a confirmed replacement

Matsima looks like a unit but apparently Bayern are interested as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if:
  • terms with Chelsea for Lacroix have been agreed already and
  • both Chelsea and Lacroix have been told he can go once we've secured a replacement.
