Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace match thread

We are a gutless, talentless Mr below average premier League side at best.

January we need 2 defenders and 2 Flair attackers with some actual pace and ability to come straight into the side and have an effect or we can kiss goodbye to premier league football

to be fair and and the tv is in danger of being hurled out the window, how can a manager stop our numpty centre forward putting himself in a position to be sent of and the fact our centre backs seem unable to defend?
and i think sage needs to go, just isnt working for some reason

The tackle, maybe. But let’s be honest here, he might not coach players to leave the back post unmarked, but perhaps he should be coaching them not to do it. I don’t know, maybe that’s part of his job as a manager?

In any other line of work, if you identify a recurring problem, you do something to fix it. That’s literally the point of coaching. If your players are repeatedly making the same defensive mistakes, you work on those mistakes until they stop happening.

There’s an old saying: the first man who calls you a horse, punch him in the face. The second man who calls you a horse, tell him he’s an idiot. But when the third man calls you a horse, it’s probably time to get fitted for a saddle.

The point is, when the same defensive mistakes keep happening, at some stage you have to stop blaming individual players and start questioning the coaching.

Otherwise, what’s the point of having a sodding manager? You might as well send the players out, tell them they’re all professionals and let them get on with it.

I wasn’t aware we had to chose between Hobbs and Sage. What about both out?

Yes the transfer dealings have been poor but this is a team composed mostly of internationals and it can’t score, can’t defend and can’t compete. We’ve had worse squads that have done much better. Sage isn’t performing and needs to go.

Yep, and he is not being helped exactly by those around him e.g. too late a start to work on the whole team, absence of like-for-like defence transfers, sub-standard forwards, ill-discipline from certain players etc. Gut feeling is that Glasner will be VERY soon pushed out by Forest with Parish begging a return.
 
Mateta has completely let us down today, just like Disasi did with his red. Completely unnecessary challenge in a non dangerous area and the game was over after 12 minutes.

He knows we're in the relegation zone, and that JSL is injured, and now we're f***ed. Fuming with him. Not the first time he's let us down either.

Sage will obviously go but I think when you consider our crap transfers and player stupidity, he can feel let down.
 
How we’ve gone from winning the FA Cup with a cracking squad to this cr*p is a really sorry tale.

We had the chance to build something really special, with Glasner, and the Board bottled it.

Now stuck with Sage - a dour, dull and uninspiring manager. And the weakest squad for years, with no heart or soul, with zero investment over summer. Unfortunately there are no quick fixes here. Any new manager will need to perform miracles.

Funny enough I said this is the worst squad since then and a few disagreed but I'll stick to my claim. Parish really let this team slip away in quality and tried to wing it with hapless Pierre Sage as the fall guy.
No need to build the stand now Steve, save yourself a few pennies and concentrate on rebuilding the playing side for the Championship.

Totally agree mate. Can only excuse it for so long and now it's looking like we are completely out of sorts. Too much changed too quick only with measly resources. Parish needs to check his onions 🙄
