Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Game ruined by the red. Extremely frustrating as it makes it impossible to make a fair assessment of the game. Defending for the goal absolutely criminal though, having 10 men it's no excuse.

Hoping for some sort of miracle in the second half!

The more I see of that red the worse the lack of common sense and appreciation for context strikes me.

We had a chance of a counter attack following a set play for them. That's why Van Der Ven was on his way back. For a split second we had a player advancing into a lot of space on the right if Mateta could help the ball on in that direction, but it was played behind him, forcing him to spin and stretch for it. He had only one chance to get what could have been the vital touch before the counter attack opportunity disappeared. That's why he threw himself at the loose ball.

If you watch it back, when Mateta took off he couldn't see Van Der Ven, had no idea he was there. The spurs player surprised him and it was too late to do anything about it.

It's not about how it looks in slow motion and devoid of context.

Genuine question.

If you think the players are not up to it -

Then Why do we persist with zonal marking? And trying to play out from the back -
To be honest it doesn't even look zonal just piss poor defending. You change the set up to the situation. There professional footballers not sunday lge

It's hard to see where a goal comes from for us. All we can hope is that we hang in there and get a lucky break from a set-piece or something. It's going to be a long second half.

Cant see this continuing , Palace are better playing in Europe then the Premiershiip coz its a slower pace. Sage just isn't up to the intensity of the game here, the players know this , I just dont see any team spirit!

A far too sensible assessment in this modern era of football. I wholeheartedly agree, of course.
