Tory Party conference.

One other thing, scrapping the ECHR.

Why? It is full of good stuff anyone who favours a civilized western democracy can hardly object to.

Why not just pare off the bits that hamper effective immigration control. Why chuck the whole thing out?

(Answer. Its a popular bug bear and promising its demise may garner more votes)
I'd be all for a rewriting of the ECHR laws to make them suitable for the 21st century.

When will European governments grow some balls and make it happen?

Predictably wild silly promises on StampDuty were uttered today by the Tories,it is so easy to do when you are so thoroughly unelectable. Grasping at straws pitiful.

Stamp duty is a barrier for people buying a home however I hadn't realised just how much tax it raises, a lot. I can see the benefit in abolishing it for first time buyers but the Tories will need to find the money from somewhere for complete abolition.

As a flagship policy it is simple to understand and to implement (the abolishing part). It's a gimmick though. Personally though I would prefer if the Tories had made a statement around the income tax threshold which has remained static for a long time now, and dragged people into the tax bracket, especially the low paid.

If they have money to burn it should be around that.

Opposition is easy, look at all the BS the Labour party chirped out before the election.

Same for all parties

Kemi gave a good speech, but it's irrelevant.

The lack of trust from the 14 years of nonsense will take a lot longer than one Parliament to fix.

I suspect when Reform win they will be much more transparent than the govts we have had past forty years.

They will inherit the worst economy in living memory and the road will be rocky

Davey is just a risible figure keeping his head deep in the publicly funded trough
I don't know about that, but his rep is irreversibly damaged by the Post Office scandal.

I am repelled by his PR stunts but (annoyingly) they appear to work. These days, it is not what you say but whether you are "seen". Absent whizzing down a slide in a tutu, people will forget they exist.

BTW, closer inspection reveals the 50% drop in members is a data label issue. Actually, their numbers have been about constant over that period.
