I used to love seeing Peter Nicholas crunch into tackles and I believe it’s a very important role in a team. It sends a clear message to the opposition.

Fairly regularly I used to be in the company of Peter Nicholas in a social setting when he moved down to London from Aberdeen and was without a club.
Erstwhile Director Geoff Geraghty once appeared and invited him outside for a chinwag about rejoining our club ! He joined Chelsea and finished his career at Watford.

He did sign for Arsenal after his first spell at our club.
He signed for Luton after his second spell at CPFC.

We have in recent years been a bit too “nice”. Referees now allow a little more leeway on what is a strong tackle and a foul so it’s good too have some “boot” in the absence of Dacoure and with Hughes slowing down. Timber should be warned that what is deemed a strong tackle against the Sunderlands, Villas and Bournemouths of the Premier League will be a bad foul against the Manchesters, Scousers and Arsenal but not the other way round.
