Those pesky small fry

I can't over-recommend an article on page 3 of the Observer's sports section, which supports what many believe, namely, that football is a conspiracy by a group of men whose only concern is making the top clubs, and therefore the game, ever richer.

The opening paragraph says it all: "A few weeks after Leicester had won the title the chief executive of one of football's great powers was patiently outlining why it couldn't be allowed to happen again." Then later: "The logic of Europe's aristocrats and the Premier League's superpowers is that small teams humbling the great and the good is bad for the product, at least by their own self-serving definition." The writer sarcastically adds, "You wouldn't want it to happen too often, otherwise people might get the wrong idea about what they want to watch!"
