For what it’s worth, here’s my perspective. Firstly the consequences of Islamic honour killings and white British domestic abuse killings are the same, but I would point out that the obvious difference is one appears to be approved by its culture, the other despised by its culture.
Until the last 15 years or so most immigrants of whatever culture and religion arriving in this country were generally sympathetic to British culture and values, and came here because of the country’s freedom, tolerance and opportunity. They carved out livings and appreciated the fact that Britain accepts that its citizens should choose how they want to live and what they believe in. Generally they have contributed culturally and economically.
In more recent times a significant number of immigrants have instead brought their s**t with them, the very things which made people want to leave their countries of origin. Intolerance of difference, racism, sexism, homophobia, incompetence. Of course we had a little of it, but please don’t tell me that Britain wasn’t in the best 1% of countries in the world in this respect. I know – I lived through it, and spent spells living in Australia and France and I saw how much more advanced Britain was, particularly in its stance against racism.
It is not okay to come and live here and to import sexism so extreme that women cannot show their faces, to be violently anti-gay, to be so racist and sexist (and backward in your thinking) that you think it is okay to rape girls as long as they are infidels, to be so racist that you believe that the Jews have no right to the one country they have, one of the few in the world whose borders were defined legally by the UN rather than imposed by war. It is not okay to come here and seek to impose this on anyone else, even a local community. To bring an environment in which our Jewish citizens are now living in fear, their institutions requiring security unimaginable even 15 years ago (even their schools !).
If you haven’t noticed, there are quite a lot of those people now living in the UK, many with UK citizenship, but with no loyalty to Britain or to the values which historically made it such an attractive place to live. And also if you haven’t noticed, the far left are desperate to align themselves with these people.
So that is my right wing view. I don’t hate anyone, but there is a particular intolerant mindset and culture which has taken a foothold, and it cannot be allowed to thrive here, and it is not the right wing. What we need are people who are tolerant and accepting of one another’s ways, beliefs and lifestyles. Freedom, democracy, and above all tolerance please.
