The invincibility and fragility of belief

Oliver Glasner brought belief to Crystal Palace: first the players, then to the club and fans. This carried us to the FA Cup as much as anything else.

Trouble is belief is very fragile and success can only be sustained by continual change. For Glasner this meant top quality players, but we can't chuck money round like the rich clubs can. We needed a different path... tactical flexibility, fitting a system round players (Esse could have been developed this season if we set up a system to play to his strengths. There is no reason in my mind he could have been a dangerous attacker for us, or at worst someone good at picking up free kicks), surprising teams with substitutions!

I think Glasner lost his belief at the end of the summer transfer window and we've been watching a slow demise...

... or maybe it's just bad luck. Like why did we only beat Liverpool by 1 goal, not beat Strasbourg, or countless others. Once we hit a rut, I dont think Glasner was in a position to turn it round, it was just proving what he always thought since the summer.

My vote is for Paddy to take over, get the defensive unit together and with them pick a formation that will keep clean sheets and just take it from there.
