I think Trumps foreign policy is to install/upgrade military bases in as much territory as he can. South America is within his sights, Israel seems likely, with upgrades for Greenland and other countries with existing bases.
To what end ? I have no idea. It just seems the path his Administration is taking. It might be to stop expansionism of Russia and China. No-one seems bothered with Africa or Australia

That is exactly what's happened. Russia is taking Ukraine because the EU thought they could get it into NATO showed the EU as impotent. The USA isn't really assisting with peace in this, except to assess Russia's military capabilities
Greenland will fall to the USA , because Europe is just a circus.
What the big boys want, they'll just take.

I think it's more than just pure power dynamics.

Rightly or wrongly, Trump and Putin now despise the EU on an ideological level.

Both Trump and Putin are willing to work with other allies who are weaker than themselves, where they can respect and trust those smaller allies.

I've had politicians visit my work place in the past that I don't like or agree with what they say or their policies. I've never heckled them or been rude. I've simply smiled and got on with the job.

Now the employee is suspended pending an investigation. Was it worth mouthing off at the president to get potentially fired?

Whereas the right have zero problem with criticism of its politicians.

I think Trump deserves criticism over Epstein...just as Biden and the rest of the Democrats do (even more so as their base did nothing and called for nothing ). The MAGA base didn't let this go and insisted on the Epstein files being pursued....all while left wing media called them conspiracy theorists.

I think that all stinks.

If Trump wants to come out of this looking good, he should make sure that employee isn't fired. That doesn't sit well with me - nor likely the US blue collar workers.

I agree. But I guess the point I'm trying to make is that if me-hole martin visited my office this week and I shouted abuse at him I expect at the very very least a suspension and lucky not be be fired for bringing the company into "disrepute" or some other fancy HR lingo.

Sure people have been fired for a lot less in America even over not taking an experimental drug. 🤷‍♂️

You'd be cancelled in Ireland ok. We must respect our overlords. That doesn't sit well with me at all either. You literally have to have the correct opinion in Ireland. We're repressed by thought more than we were by the church.
