If they were solely a news outlet that might be more valid. It still doesn't explain why everyone should have to pay for a licence to watch other channels. Make the BBC subscription based and see how many value the service they provide. The BBC has the largest global network and reach of any broadcaster on the planet. Their World Service is unrivalled... that alone makes them a better news source than any of the others you mentioned.
The relationship with Reuters and PA, etc are not much of a concern... I would say the partnership with CBS has more of a biased leaning.Interesting. The impression created by certain posters is that the BBC is this shining beacon of integrity compared to their competitors who either make up their content or quote directly from the Hackenbush Book of Lies.
Reminds me of so many things we hear little about however. For instance, Meloni, Marine Le Penn, Yemen, Nagorno Karabakh, Saudi, Dubai, Syria, Yazidi, Kurds, Hong Kong: loads more frankly. But yet the never ending Trump news and Gaza news. Most outlets report the news the same as each other. It's the opinion that goes with the news that differentiates them.
To be fair here, it was a pretty big deal when BBC decided to cut a lot of its own news and buy it from others. But I realised they didn't exactly trumpet it. I believe it was cost cutting. If you watch UK Sky News and BBC it's strikingly similar. So be it - but I don't watch them due to the clear opinions, rather than news. May as well read a tabloid. Which I also don't.The relationship with Reuters and PA, etc are not much of a concern... I would say the partnership with CBS has more of a biased leaning.
Yes and no. It's a big deal in the sense that it shows signs of the BBC's atrophy, which is looking inevitable. But I don't think it's impacted the quality of their output. Where possible they've always sought to get three sources of evidence to validate a story (hence why they were so late in reporting the Forest letter to UEFA), and the partners they work with strive for the same standards. Albeit that's not always attainable. To be fair here, it was a pretty big deal when BBC decided to cut a lot of its own news and buy it from others. But I realised they didn't exactly trumpet it. No they shouldn’t.Social conservatives should be allowed an opt out of the BBC license fee if only because it doesn't employ any social conservatives.....which as Reform polling shows is a significant part of the country.
An example of huge levels of socially liberal bias:
I know, when the protestors were arrested, I bet they had a fine time. All above board. There was a Canadian journalist there who wrote about it at length (as an aside to his story of working in China). His wife was arrested but released later. I believe some of his friends disappeared. Not sure on their full fates.Remember the 'Tianemen Square massacre'.
It never happened.
It's just that the BBC were actually there and reporting that it did.
It's now being re-written and fading away, no memorials, of course I totally believed that was what I was watching, can't trust sanything now.

All this diatribe does is lay bare your own bias.I watched BBC News last night to give it another chance. Everyone is racist in Ballymena - got 2 minutes. Everything else was down to Trump. There were only two reports where his name wasn't mentioned - Ballymena and Gaza. Nearly the whole news was about Gaza but about a baby being evacuated. The baby had some kind of condition but it was clear who was being blamed. The newsreader looked suitably disgusted. The Gaza part was about ten minutes. Then it was a couple of minutes of Trump and tariff uncertainty and Iran. So nearly the whole news was a clear agenda. The attempts at balance were obliterated by the BBC commentary.
Then it was onto newsnight which was introduced lauding a government initiative. Just before it started, I said "onto the next bit of propaganda". It was introduced with something like "let's look at Reeve's brave new initiative and explain what...". I turned it off laughing. To be fair at all - it was absolutely shameful, disgraceful and downright propaganda. Totally bias and, honestly, The Guardian is a lot better as they will at least question Labour. And our entire news should not be about Trump and Gaza. How about we take a look at ourselves for once? They clearly don't want us to.
I then watched 10 seconds of the Irish news, which was how the government couldn't do anything because "Trump". Which is always the top story, followed by Gaza. Funny in Ireland that, was Trump in for the whole of the last century?
Tianemen Square....Are you saying it never happened ? got put into the memory-hole ?Remember the 'Tianemen Square massacre'.
It never happened.
All it does is show that every news report is about them. Which everyone can make their own mind up about - you have just proved my point. But you won't see it. Blind ignorance is what it's called. All this diatribe does is lay bare your own bias.
Trump and Gaza are big stories at the moment.
I think there is something to that. There was something going on with African students.I heard that the Tianemen Square protest started as a protest about some African immigrants.
It's just a matter of time before the TV Licence system is abolished, regardless of who is in power. If you don't like that, it's just tough. No they shouldn’t.
You cannot opt out of taxes just because you don’t personally approve of the way they are spent!
The licence fee is no different. It allows you to access live broadcasts from any source with the revenue going to part fund the UK’s national broadcaster. Who are deliberately kept at arms length from political control by the system.
That you don’t like it is just tough. There is plenty of opportunities for “social conservatives “ to have their voices heard, both on the BBC and elsewhere.
Indeed, and one of the main ways is everyone needs to refuse to pay it.It's just a matter of time before the TV Licence system is abolished, regardless of who is in power. If you don't like that, it's just tough.
It's a change so it must be good. It's inevitable so fighting against it is just pointless. All change is good, like the change between being fit and healthy and getting shot. It's just a matter of time before the TV Licence system is abolished, regardless of who is in power. If you don't like that, it's just tough.
