Does anyone seriously think he would win? I don’t think even he does! That’s not the point of any of these cases. For him it’s a cheap way to get publicity and present himself as a victim again to his gullible support base, whilst diverting attention away from the things he does. Most of his critics just settle to save costs. Some, like Michael Wolff refuse to and fight back. So too will the BBC. He has made his point by filing the case. He won’t want an actual trial that the world tells him he will lose, confirming his own instincts, despite his lawyers wanting to cream in their fees. I forecast that after a lot of bluster he will tell Keir Starmer that, “as a gesture of goodwill towards the UK he is withdrawing his totally justified claim”, whilst banning the BBC from the White Hiuse. And if he wins?
I think the fact that he claims that “he must do it” suggests he doesn’t have much faith in the prospects.
