The bbc, again.

How were your words altered? It was a direct quote. The difference with the BBC was that ellipses were added to show an edit had been made. Apart from that you're 100% right.
It conveyed a totally different meaning! The “ellipses” only conveying it was a quote. Not an altered quote! Which the BBC’s did IF it was meant to be something Trump had said. It wasn’t though. It was meant to show the kind of things that were said that resulted in the rioting. Your edit was targeted at me. The BBC’s wasn’t targeted at Trump.

It was still a direct quote despite whatever context you choose to impute. Nothing was changed nor were two parts edited together to convey an imagined meaning.

I am not “choosing” the context! You are ignoring it. By leaving words out you deliberately changed the meaning. To repeat what you are also ignoring, this was directed at me. The BBC “edit” was part of a bigger story that was not directed at any individual. It just painted a picture of the kind of things that were causing the reactions.

Paranoid, much? The BBC article was more directed at Trump and the picture it painted was a false one in as much as he didn't say what they reported whereas you did and have often said variations on the theme.

That’s both your and Trump’s interpretation. It isn’t mine, nor, I believe, that of the BBC journalists or the producers of the programme. They have acknowledged, and apologied for, an error of judgement saying there should have been a fade between them to avoid the misunderstanding that has happened. If it ever gets to court I fully expect that explanation to be made and for a jury to accept it.

No such explanation is possible with your edit.

I think the BBC has had its day. It’s been let down by BBC News who sadly just can’t be impartial. The problem is obviously a cultural one and is directly related to its current power structure, paranoia at being called racist or right-wing and it’s hiring policy over the last 20 years. They are all inter-linked. Primarily the liberal/left still rule its corridors and they are the type of person who bullies at dinner parties and make such events a totally displeasurable experience.

Give us all views please BBC. The left the right and somewhere in between. Please also try to refrain from calling anyone on the right ‘far right’ to try to demonise them. It’s all becoming a huge yawn and is a reason why Reform is storming it. The people are sick of it all.

There you are then. You have your opinion and I have mine and the jury might well contain some who aren't in thrall to the BBC.

They don’t need to be! They just need to be open to arguments, objective and not prejudiced. That would be easier in the USA than here where the need to pay the licence fee doesn’t colour so many judgements and it being the most trusted source of news.

Sure. The country who elected Trump twice and a jury who live in his home state are bound to feel that way.

Juries being carefully screened for bias with lawyers able to reject those they feel inappropriate. There will be those who love Trump and those who detest him in Florida. They will be chucked out and those capable of deciding on the facts of the case chosen.

Well, duh. They're still Americans deciding a case against a foreign company accused of falsely representing an office they hold in high respect.

So let down that it is the most trusted source of news in the world!

Something every British citizen should be immensely proud of and not beating their own political drum over.

The BBC is so much more than just a locally applied balm for personal prejudices. It’s one of our most valuable national assets that sets us apart from others. Without it we would be much weaker.

He is the President so how can it have nothing to do with the Presidency?
Strangely he is, apparently, also a man. He might have a fake tan and dyed hair, as well as a malfunctioning brain, but he isn’t AI.

The event in question occurred when he was a candidate. Not as part of his Presidential duties.

It’s not the US government suing the BBC. It’s Donald Trump.
