Textor buying Everton? / Bids to buy Palace outright

If you’ve got that much money that you need to invest £230m in something to generate a return - and you don’t mind a bit of downside risk - maybe the PL and a club like Palace who can occasionally come up with a resellable mega star - still represents a reasonable punt
The usual return is selling for a profit - but valuing Palace at 500mil seems a little high. If the ground were done, then maybe.

Textor paid around £117 million to buy his 45% share. If he sells for £230 million he's almost doubled his money in three years. That sort of return is likely to catch the eye of investors.

Early August, Lyon put their entire squad on the transfer list to raise funds, including the women's side.

I don't think that's the same at palace as we have 3 board members that are keen to have a still viable business.

Which is exactly why they didn't allow Textor to become a majority share holder.

It looks bad for Lyon.

It shouldn't impact us however the turmoil may mean that Textor may block us spending money whilst he is trying to sell his shares.

I see this more as a nuisance for us and another reason why multi club ownership is bad.

Did he? Can i ask where you get that info.

He initially bought 18% for £87m and then increased his holdings a couple of times to get to 45%.
Based on the 18% cost i would be very surprised if he didn't pay a similar amount for the additional shares. That would be c£200m in total.

I think that's misleading the way the Guardian have written it. My understanding is Textor paid an initial £90 million for 40% and then he increased that share to 45% with a further investment in 2022.

Textor really is a cowboy. He'd asset strip Palace eventually, for all its worth, if he had the chance. The guy has had issues with every club he has owned. That should tell anybody enough.
this global talent-identification presence that we have and this collaboration that we have, which is unheard of, I think, among multi-clubs, like football departments, Quote Textor.

Textor has bought into the multi club waffle that will collapse soon enough. Football is so over hyped now by wealthy guys playing a game through all us fans. I blame Sky and its founder for this major imbalance. Made him a fortune and the top players, but no owner is making a red cent out of it.

The £117m is correct. I've seen the breakdown before but I can't remember where.

It's why Harris and Blitzer offered £117m to buy him out.

Textor needs to raise cash in a hurry. I think he'll need to take what he can for his Palace shares
I hope so. Clubs with ownership issues rarely fair well on the pitch. There are arguments to suggest it shouldn’t but I do wonder how much the Textor share situation might creating a less than happy atmosphere at SP.

With Palace bombing down the table, you have to wonder was the boardroom ethos os going to be. Would Textor sanction some transfer market spending to try and get the share value up while he sells ? or will be try and hold his nerve and hope the Manager can turn things around ~(short term), whilst he offloads his shares.
The option of doing nothing and watching Palace secure automatic relegation early-doors, must be playing out in Textors nightmares

The sooner this guy disappears it will be for the better. He is complete loose canon creating a distraction at the club. What is it with Americans that they always want to give it the billy big bollocks?
