Strasbourg vs. Crystal Palace match thread

It didn't feel like we were that bad to me. They scored one good goal and one lucky one. We had far more chances than them. We just didn't take our chances. I haven't seen the stats but it felt like we had more chances by quite a bit. I don't know about xg but surely ours was high. I hope it's more just unlucky than a lasting trend.
Personally, I thought Strasbourg were ok - not brilliant. Probably better than Wolves, however.

Strasbourg played in a very progressive way. Quite different to most PL games we play. As much as we did not perform up to expectations, the opposition were good.

I would say that experience in European competitions counts for a lot.

They were the better team, we had the better chances.
So disappointing.

It comes to something when Mitchell is our best finisher in the game.

I don't think we should be in any rush to sell Guehi in January.
Their first goal came from the area that Guehi usually defends and in the second half we lost our composure defensively in his absence as well as missing his ability to bring the ball out of defence.

The open goal misses from Sarr and Wharton were inexcusable and it's clear that Pino's lack of goals in his career to date are for a reason.

We can't even point to misfortune.

I said we'd have to play better than against Wolves and so it proved. I am upset not only at the missed open goals, Pino's abject performance but the poor performance by arguably our best player, Wharton. While all around were losing their heads with panicked quick passing he has the ability to hold the ball and slow things down - but he woefully did not.

We ran around like headless chickens. Granted Strasbourg are a good, young side but our incompetence
made them look better. They look a good bet to win the Conference. Just imagine how we would have faired in the Europa.

We are missing Eze but looks like we will suffer even more when Guehi leaves. New blood needed in January....

Is this another wake up call as we didn’t learn from last one ? I don’t see we are one of the favourites any more….not as good as we think we are. That’s strike two…strike three and we will be out.

Absolutely spot-on.

Give him time! He's already better than Kamada was after the same amount of time in the team. It makes no sense to criticise a player after three months.
I agree ,he was just as bad as a few others .Seams like there’s always one player a season people on here pay out on .Last year it was Kamada .Wharton and Sarr missed open goals .Eze had loads of shite games aswell .

Pino has shown some good moments, goal against wolves springs to mind!!!

But he seems to constantly go down appealing for a foul and it not be given. Thus losing possession and our team being a man down on the backfoot.

We should have scored those 2 sitters but had we done so and won it would have been very fortunate. First half pretty even with both side having spells on top. Second half Strasbourg were the better side. Pino did a disappearing act and Wharton was outplayed by Barco who bossed the centre of the park. Munoz tried but created little up front and was caught upfield too often.
They break like we do but on this occasion didn’t much better than us. Defensively we missed Guehi second half.
Pressure on to field a strong side and win our last 2 games.
