If people start fighting each other with crossbows then there's not really a society worth surviving for.

The Israelis were using trebuchets against Hamas.

As a civvie you're kind of limited with ranged weapons, a couple half decent Balearic slingers would send a horde of rioters running.
It's also impossible for the government to ban string & stones.

as opposed to the drones and hi tech weapons we have now ? sticks and stones....or nukes. Its all about power, loot, and testosterone.

cos you are the last in a long unbroken line of people who fought against a hostile environment. Everybody is always banging on about 'two World Wars'........as if the Mills of Victorian England were some kind of an episode of Love Island ?
