We have Rachel from accounts, and now we have fraudster Haigh.

Reeves is hilarious except she does the budget.

To be clear, Haigh lied about a phone being stolen so her employer would give her an upgraded model, that's the type of person she is. She pleaded guilty because she was and later was rightly fired.

Normally you would expect a resignation but lying is so intrinsic for this Labour Govt don't hold your breath.

She now has a good salary and a good pension at taxpayer's expense

What next one wonders, there's always more.

LOL. It is amusing about Haigh. But poses questions. Labour MUST have known about this conviction. And given how febrile politics is, should have negated her from being an MP for them in the first place, let alone given a cabinet position. Plus the timing of this....

I suspect its either about putting out a spoiler for a Sunday newspaper report or a deliberate leak to try and divert attention from something else (possibly take the heat off Reeve). Possibly both. She might have even been deliberately set up from the get-go to be offered as a sacrificial lamb by way of diverting attention once it needed diverting.

But its a no-brainer she has to go.

Resigned…

I like your theory.

Any new government knows that at some point it will be under pressure so why not have a ready made sacrificial lamb to divert attention. Put them in a job that is visible but not important enough that they can be replaced and sit back and wait.

Sneaky 😀

we have all committed various sins in our lives. In the Information Age, those pecadillos follow you to the grave. Only a nutter would want to be a politician these days. Hence, we have fools, idiots and nutters leading us everywhere.

Imagine doing a job whereby an army of journalists are rummaging through your knicker-drawer ? Remembering your drunken shenanigans from twenty or thirty years previously.

Having said that, this Labour crowd does seem to be a motley crew of thicks, feminists, DEI shoe-ins, and psychopaths.

Literally the most pathetic government I've ever seen. A class at infant's school would run the country better.
Someone really has to campaign for total political reform or come up with something completely new. It's not always that comical. It alternates between a feeling of comedy but also dread, anger and sickness.

They have a monopoly on this?

I suspect it is more that they are less adept at hiding it.

Has the economy plummeted, services dropped off the cliff or a belligerent enemy appeared off the coast?

The first two were experienced under Truss. That was not that long ago. Memory issues?

Meanwhile, you put your cross on the paper yet?

It's numbers on the paper here. There is something like the world's most complicated election system (other than France) to ensure the cronies get in. I have five TDs in my constituency, for example.
Put a X on the paper and it's void. I haven't been down yet as, unsurprisingly, it's raining.

A belligerent enemy is always just off of the coast, just depends if it's reported. As for Truss, I don't care anymore as she went soon enough. I'm not trussting Starmer to go whatever happens.

As for economic figures - even manipulated in the current climes - they're soon going to be f***ing awful. It's a pretty safe prediction. There's not going to be any upswing with current policies - in fact the exact opposite. Shame but true.

As I've said before, I've always been Labour but not since Blair. So I'm not a Tory so no points scored against me with Truss jibes. She's a bloody idiot but even she is genuinely more palatable than Starmer - who seems like a dangerous idiot.

I don't want the country to do badly to score political points. Far from it. I'd prefer it to do really well with a competent government. That that looks unlikely or even vaguely plausible these days is a sad indictment of what's happening. Sunak, Truss, Starmer, Johnson: none of them have been good enough - or even adequate.

Yep, it's a good job the leader of the opposition has never committed an offence ....

Remember 9/11
It’s a good day to bury bad news wasn’t it?
Happens regularly I reckon.

It doesn't bother me at all. The point scoring is not helping. The current government is Starmer: you want to tell me it's a good government and perhaps why?
I doubt you're happy with it either. Probably not tough enough on Israel or something would be my guess.
The Tories are pretty obviously pathetic, as demonstrated by the ballot box, but it doesn't make this government good because the others are crap. Just demonstrates a lack of viable choice.

But the hypocrisy of Labour holds no bounds. I’m still waiting for the whiter than white, we will clean up politics, party to rear its head.
Yes the Tories have their skeletons but the way Labour went on and on about it whilst in opposition, what do they expect when the boot is on the other foot.

Yes. It is saying something that one looks back with a sentimental tear in ones eye for the safe and responsible stewardship of John Major and Theresa May.

What’s your theory on Lammy being given the job of foreign secretary then? He must be academically pretty good but lacks a lot of other intelligence.

Yep, like being grateful that a blind date turns out to be a thin minger rather than a fat minger.

Well, actually not a lot like that but I like the thought too much to change it.
