Stabby ! Can 2025 be London's 'Mare ? Lance the balloon of our Knight-Mayor

Saw a stat where 70 odd per cent of London stabbings are carried out by "ethnic minorities". Yet, in the rest of the country it's more like 30 per cent. Surely this should raise questions? But obviously not with the current mayor.

we are living in Orwellian times. I recently recall a tv programme saying something like " 98% of schoolkids in Tower Hamlets are ethnic minority"........... surely a statement which defied mathematical sense ?

Stabbings ? which is more shocking, the statistics ? or the Media coverage ?

Elm Park school

Stabby gang attack.

Anyone else noticed the media attention around the Netflix series Adolescence?

It has been in the news practically everyday for the last 2 weeks and politicians have been weighing in on it and demanding something must be done.

The basic story is a young boy stabs a girl after being influenced by Incel culture.

So for certain people this show ticks all the right boxes, toxic masculinity and knife crime even better the "perp" is a white boy so no chance of any charges of racism.

I wonder if a story about black knife crime would get the same attention from the media and also politicians.

Just wondering.

It's got attention because it's a great piece of TV that no doubt got lots of people thinking about how they parent their teenagers (particularly teenage boys) with all of the pitfalls of social media and the internet around these days. As a father of a young boy it certainly made an impact on me.

Quite how anyone takes issue with it as a show I don't know - powerful, tackles issues which are relatable to lots of people, well written, great acting... what's not to like?

Quite. Was staggered to see people taking issue with it, but then when you dig a bit deeper it's exactly who you would expect to take issue with it - the permanently offended online right with the fragile egos who it probably makes uncomfortable viewing for. Holding a mirror up to yourself and your world can be scary. Especially when the story highlights the dangers of the knock on real life impact of internet discourse - especially on impressionable young minds.

I'm not taking issue with the show. I was merely pointing out that the media has been reporting on it daily and that it has transferred from the TV critics section to mainstream political reporting.

Of course children stabbing each other is a serious issue but it seems that politicians would rather talk about TV drama than get off their arse and actually doing something about knife crime rather than just words and blame Incel and Andrew Tate for everything.

Most victims of stabbing are gang related.

It really has very little to do with knife crime - it's about the dangers of the internet and social media to teenagers.

But you know... culture war.
