Spurs v Palace match thread

Is the celebration that Eze did after his second goal, putting his hand to his head as if making a phone call, a usual one?

If not what do you think it might signify? That he wants to hear from Tuchel? Or from Guardiola? Or his Mum?

It's unlikely he was signifying his desperation for a call from Daniel Levy.

I was impressed by how positive we were today, but Spurs were so pathetic that it was easy to look good. We didn't really need to work that hard.

This game was unimportant, so criticism might seem misplaced, but with the domination we had, it should have been 0-5.
No more knocks, so all looks good for next week. All we have to do now is avoid anything stupid in training.
It was unimportant in the grand scheme of things but it was important in that it was an away win before the final which has to help confidence if nothing else.
And personally I love beating Tottering Hotsperm in any game.

Winning there was particularly enjoyable. Spurs and Arsenal are far too arrogant for my liking.

2-0 flattered them - we could have easily been 3-0 up at half time. The co commentator in the game i watched mentioned a few times that on nearly every set piece Palace put in the Spurs box a Palace player got the first contact. I think on the BBC site the player ratings Everyone in the Palace team was over 7 and everyone from Spurs were less than 4 which just about some's up the Palace dominance.
Good preparation for the cup final - would have been the icing on the cake if Nketiah got a goal but perhaps he is saving one for the final?

I think he has copied Nketiah. Luckily not in his finishing though 😂

It was after the first goal and did concern me a bit as he has been linked with spurs for a long time now. I thought he may be saying “give me a call “ if they do want him.

But, the fact he laughed first could also mean that he is taking the mickey out of them too.

I heard that XG backs that up. We've a really high XG but the lowest conversion rate in the league for XG apparently. In this match our XG was 3.5 maybe but we scored 2. I think we're something like 38 percent of our expected goals. There was a discussion on it a week or two ago. Probably mirroring what many of our matches look like; it looks like we miss too many very clear cut chances.
In all fairness there were 2 shocking VAR decisions. Should have been 0-4. Would have been a better reflection.

I still can’t get my head around a player being offside when his feet are in his own half. Bizarre
Dermot Gallagher is just about to explain how it was an absolutely correct decision. If they mention it at all.
Another thought which occurs, and apologies in advance for this, is that the Spuds lack of any meaningful midfield might have made this an ideal game for Kamada. Maybe not too.

Keith hackett said that the law was applied correctly for mateta goal but where he has doubts over the decision is that the epl/pgmol use different ball tracking to european leagues so ours isn't as accurate over here.

That's interesting. In this case, though, if VAR was actively looking for reasons to disallow goals they couldn't have picked a more marginal "offence" than a shoulder which might have been offside on the halfway line 3 passes before it was scored.
