Southampton Predictions.

As a long-suffering Palace fan (of over 50 years), I am wary of a case of "After the Lord Mayor's Show" following our FA Cup performance. However, I think we will win but it might just be by the odd goal as was the case in the home fixture when, of course some sloppy play from us saw us go behind. Hopefully our defence will be better organized this time for a 0-1.

We haven't lost away from home in the league since Forest in October. Apparently, we are the first team to win six away games (in all competitions) without conceding a goal. Southampton could still end the season with the lowest points total in history. Everything points towards a comfortable win for us. My two concerns are that, under their new manager, Saints have been going very direct and our back three do not always dominate in the air. Second, I'm not sure Glasner will risk playing JP from the start again and without him we sometimes struggle without a focal point. Regardless, I still think we'll win, but perhaps a narrow 0-1 rather than anything more eye-catching.

this game is a good opportunity to get Nketiah some competitive game-time. See if he can score the first goal of the match. Help find the tactical support he needs to get those assists. I still believe there is a quality striker in there, we need Glasner to find it.

I would only bring on JP for the last 20 minutes. To help his rehabilitation and keep him injury-free for the FA cup.

And if the exercise backfires, who cares ? Southampton is now a nothing-game for us.

You stealing Willo's catch phrases

We just need to keep everything ticking over, no injuries, keep everyone in form etc.

I don't think Glasner will change the starting XI much, but he might make some subs around the 60 min mark - a triple sub from : Clyne, Eddie, Kamada, Franca, Devenney?

I think we might win 0-1

Hopefully we are spanking them at HT and can give a few a rest/a few a chance

i hate to p1.ss on everybodies parade. But i am an Eagle long enough to have seen us thump the best teams in the land and then go and lose to Leyton Orient.

Southampton will be a banana skin if we are not careful.
So true mate, we’ve been there so many times before, but surely in our current form especially away, even we can’t lose to that shower, they really are shite

Hopefully I won’t be eating my words

I’ll go for the standard 0-2 😇😁

Southampton have looked shot of confidence and resigned to the Championship for some weeks. But individuals in their team can still hurt oppositions. Some of these individuals will consciously or subconsciously be trying to put themselves in the shop window.

The weekend will have taken a lot out of us and Wednesday might see us make some changes (maybe Nketiah maybe to start; maybe Kamada/Esse and Chilwell to get more minutes).

I think it will be a close game but I also hope we get ahead early and see Southampton crumble. Overall I would not be surprised with a 0-0 or a 1-1.

I can see us taking our eye off the ball for this one. Mentally relaxing after the cup game, where our defence needed to be on it for 95 mins
However, OGs appraisal that we were 'rusty' will likely see us play an unchanged side to get us back up to full speed and I find it unlikely that he'll leave us unfocused. Ultimately too, so'ton haven't played for 2 1/2 weeks, so we should have enough.

2-1 to the Palace with a shock goal conceded.

Normally, I'd expect a defeat in an after the Lord Mayor's show game, but Southampton are so poor that we can probably win this playing badly.

0-2
